Yeah, they really went all out on the TNG blu rays, and the result was stunning. They spent a ton of money on it though, and they asked way too much when they were first released at $70 each season. Everyone should buy the boxset now for under $100. If they sell enough blu rays they will do it.

How are the special features for the complete series? I may pick it up on BD if it's a good price. If it's already below $100, it's possible I could get it for less than $50 then.

I was just watching an episode of TNG and Riker calls for Red Alert, then several seconds later says "Raise shields!" I thought the shields and weapons automatically came online when the ship goes to red alert? So why call for after its already at red alert?

To my knowledge it is the other way round. Raising shield triggers red alert.

But I've seen episodes where the order is given to raise shields, yet the ship doesn't go into red alert, or even yellow. You'd think red alert would automatically trigger these other systems, yet so many times I recall the order for shield or phasers or torpedoes to be brought online after red alert is already in place. Seems unnecessary and redundant.

It is the best Blu ray set I have ever owned. Its been completely redone in HD and the picture and sound quality are stunning. Each episode has several commentary tracks, and each season has 3-6 hours of bonus documentaries. Your getting 30+ hours of content per season. Watching them on Blu Ray is almost like watching a new show. It just looks so good, and you notice more stuff, and it helps that they have tastefully updated the special effects.

I will definitely keep my eye out for it on Black Friday. If you find any online retailers selling it for a deep discount then, be sure to post! I'll do the same.

who is the TNG science officer?

Spok, Tpol, Dax all have big roles. What about Voyager's science officer?

Data is both ops and science officer, just like Spock is both science and first officer.

so Harry Kim would be boht too in voyager? wonder why they did not keep this consistent through the series.

I am not even sure whether the name of the science officer in VOY is ever strictly mentioned. I thought it was Samantha Wildman with Kim only being ops officer. I could be wrong, though.

I do not think there is inconsistency here. The role of the science officer appears to be something that can be fulfilled in addition to other duties.

yeah, i get your point. maybe it is jsut strange to see a blue uniform as part of the bridge crew as science officer in some series but not others.

Wish Netflix could somehow run a DS9 miniseries set real time years after the show ended with ole Sisko coming back. Could even feature a few of the VOY folks.

Also, any chance we see anyone from Enterprise cameo on Discovery?

TNG had the GOAT crew, am I right? I've always wondered what they would have done had they been the ones thrown into the Delta Quadrant, instead of Voyager.

How does the Enterprise-D do out there?

The Enterprise-E?

Does Picard blow up the Caretaker machine thing? Or does he use it to get back?

I have a slick deals alert set up for it, so I will be sure to post. The boxset is a really nice looking package too. I have TNG blu rays, but actually bought each season an imported them from UK for abut $30 per season. I did get the Enterprise Boxset and really like the package. ENT and TNG blu rays were both done by the same teams, so both have similar quality and packed full of features.

Yeah they never really stated who science officer was. Duties seemed to be mixed between Kim, Tuvok, and 7of9

Yellow Alert: Sheilds on
Red Alert: Shields and weapons on

The alerts also shift crew responsibilities, and can reassign ship priorities. It will prioritize power allocation(shift power to weapons and shields)
