They are reaching the end of the Discovery phase of the lawsuit with CBS. Axanar had a pretty big win in the case, because the judge is forcing CBS to show all financials and has to prove how this perticular 20 min fan film has damaged them, whch is going to be very hard to do.

Here's a website that summerizes the court procedings.

fucking CBS. id make them a deal an have them produce another tv mini show.

i finally get a Star trek about the federation military an now its clogged up in court because CBS sucks

I'm hoping the Klingon captain is more of adversary than ally. It would undermine the peace treaty khetimer accords that undiscovered country started and the accomplishments of worf being the first Klingon in Starfleet.

It could still be some kind of secret mission.

Btw Fuller stopped his Halloween countdown on Oct 24th.

I've been watching Enterprise on Netflix having never seen it when it aired cause it looked campy and stupid.

I'm actually really enjoying it.

Its actually a really good looking show. Looks great in HD, and is the only trek series shot in HD.

So the premier episode has a budget of 9 million. The other episodes are reported to be 6-7 million. I'm shocked they are putting that kinda money in. That's what some of the more expensive episodes of GOT costs to make.

With the movies struggling they may see it as opportunity to make the shows the de facto leader of all things star trek. A chance for the glory days of stng. Maybe gain a strong massive world wide following.

The success of Trek on streaming sites is what finally got them to make a new series, and base there own streaming service off of it. TNG, followed closely by TOS are among the most popular series viewed on Netflix, with the others series also performing well. CBS had a deal in place that gave Bad Robot first rights to a TV series, and as soon as that expired the new series was announced.

No surprise, i streamed the hell out of tng and dsn myself. Shit even enterprise got good when they killed it.

Hope to hell and back they don't fuck it up, scifi has been week in most entertainment mediums.

And i believe star trek has yet to achieve its potential.

Yeah as you said before, they realized how valuable Star Trek actually is.

I only hope they use it to get rid of painted backgrounds and not to make it Star Wars.

The acting is decent and i like the comaradere between archer, tpol and trip. I like the twist that the vulcans are not the friendly aliens we know and love...and meeting some common aliens and seeing how those interactions play out is great.

Their doctor is very well acted and under valued as well. But the black dude is weak as fuck and would make a great martyr in dying in an episode, because fuck hes bad.

The set pieces are great, i love that they're cartridges to phase pistols...i like the metallic submarine esque vibe of the ship. Warp 5 being the limiter and every thing else.

Only would dhange a few things. Tpols lips are ridiculuous which is unfortunate because shes playing up the vulcan role well. If those are real and not fat injected, id be shocked. I also dont like her skin tight seven of nine soandex suit. Doesnt feel very vulcan eqsue and as mentioned, the black guy isnt working at all. I'd have killed him off.

And the intro to the shows song is god awful.

I know how this show ends as well so im prepared for that god awful let down...heres hoping this new show doesnt dare pull that garbage.

Holy shit. I was literally just watching that documentary, Chaos on the Bridge, about the production of the first three TNG seasons and they specifically say that the Star Trek shows have always been low budget. This is beyond GoT money here, shit!

Makes you wonder what Netflix paid for Season 1. 9 million for the pilot episode and 6.5 for each of the following 9 episodes means the first season costs at least around 70 million. Add to that whatever they pay the makers including Fuller that is not factored into the per episode Budget. And it was said that the Netflix deal already made it profitable. So Netflix probably paid >80 million for season 1.

Yeah I'm curious to see the quality of sets and stuff. And being a Trek show, they don't shoot on location a ton, which eats up a huge chunk of GOT budget. Also makes me wonder what kind of number Netflix was throwing out to produce it originally.

Brannon Braga the showrunner, said up until a few weeks before release, they sold him on using modern music for the opening by using U2's It's a beautiful day as the song, and assuring they would get the rights. Well they lied to him and we ended up with the other song.

A beautiful day wouldn't have helped make that intro less campy. I think my issue with it is that it was too far removed from what we had been used too up until that point.

They went from Narrative to non narrative space shots. I think it would have been better had it just been a nice melody over the space tech progression montage.

Even better if they could accompany it with some narrative from Bakula that is akin (but not exact) to the one Stewart and Shatner had said.

This. It screamed 'this is NOT Star Trek as you know it!!1!'

Watching Enterprise for the 1st time. Enjoying it. The vulcan chick is hot, she 1/2 white and 1/2 black?

Big picture trek question- when does the Federation vs. Klingon was start and stop. It is somewhere between Enterprise and TOS?

Keep watching.

I'm on season 2 and questions will get answered.

As for T'pol, she's not half anything, she was on Howard Stern and when he asked the same question she got kind of offended.

The show is great though. I remember scoffing at it when it aired, never gave it a shot and now I'm regretting it.
