Been watching TNG and something funny I noticed is that although Worf is supposed to be this big badass Klingon Warrior, he's constantly getting his ass handed to him. Literally, it seems like almost every single physical encounter he's been involved in he loses. WTF?! Granted, I'm only on Season 2, but it's still rather strange. I thought he was much more formidable than they've shown him to be (thus far).

TNG Worf was a can. DS9 Worf was p4p #1 in the galaxy.

In TNG, they were pushing the idea that violence and conflict and aggression never solves anything. So they had worf fail at everything to contrast when picard talked his way out, or Geordie or data thunk their way out

But then you had ds9, that was all about sometimes there are shit that you can't reason or out smart. And when that happens you just have to fuck shit up. And that's when worf was the ultimate bad ass.

They don't go into smaller ships much, because the shows usually just follow the main ship. Ships usually carry 5-20 low warp shuttle craft,1-5 Run a about larger mid warp ships, and the larger ships may also have a number of fighter ships, like the peregrine class fighters. You don't really see the wide scale space battles, other than DS9 and the Dominion war. It was just way to expensive to do back in the day. Hopefully the new series will have some epic space battles.

Ya but the idea that any such battle would be fought in close quarters is kind of absurd. There simply is no reason for such proximity battles in space with energy based weapons. the enemy and allies should almost never be within visual range.

Amazon UK has the TNG Blu ray set onsale for $50 and TOS for $35. Both sets are the complete series and have been fully restored and upgraded to HD. They work on all Blu ray players. Amazing deals.

Yeah they battles are usually thousands of km away bit they can't really show that on TV. TV makes it look like dog fighting

To be fair any fight scenes but the spaceships are utter shit in Star trek.

Michelle Yeoh Joins STAR TREK: DISCOVERY

Star Trek: Discovery has found its first star! Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon‘s Michelle Yeoh is set to headline the CBS All Access series, Nicholas Meyer just confirmed to CS.

Meyer, who helmed Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, is serving as a consulting producer on Discovery. Although it is unconfirmed at this time, Michelle Yeoh’s role is quite likely the series’ lead, a female Lieutenant Commander.

“I know Michelle Yeoh is in it,” Meyer told the site during a discussion of his 1979 sci-fi classic Time After Time. The film, starring Malcolm McDowell as H.G. Wells and David Warner as Jack the Ripper, received a Blu-ray edition last week from Warner Archive.

Michelle Yeoh recently reprised her Yu Shu Lien for a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel, Sword of Destiny. She also played a recurring role as Lotus on the second season of the Netflix original series, Marco Polo.

The LT.Cmdr will be the "star" of the show. Its Trek so it will be an ensemble show, but she will get top billing and first season will likely focus on her.
