The timeline doesn't work out. The massacre at Tarsus IV took place 20 years before the original series. Discovery is supposed to take place only 10 years before Kirk's 5 year mission.

They still could be dealing with the fallout from that.

One of my fav Voyager episodes is 'The Void'

Where they get stuck in a limited region of space
with other ships.

Side note: has anyone messed with Star Trek Timelines on their phone?

Wondering if I'm wasting my time.. kinda interesting for fans, but repetitive and they try to sell you a bunch of shit.
I played around a bit with it and had fun, but don't really play games n my phone. It's been well received by trek fans, and they seem to be supporting and putting out new content. People complain that it costs a lot to have access to the good ships and stuff, but that's the same with every phone game.

Bryan Fuller No Longer Involved with STAR TREK: DISCOVERY

In October, fans of Star Trek were saddened to hear that showrunner Bryan Fuller had stepped from his position with Star Trek: Discovery. His involvement with the series was a major draw for Trekkies unsure of CBS’ long-term intentions with Gene Roddenberry’s sci-fi series. And, now, their worst fears have been confirmed: Fuller is no longer involved with the series at all.

In an interview with Newsweek, Fuller dished details about his departure but confirmed he had stepped away from Discovery entirely. “It is bittersweet, but it was just a situation that couldn’t be resolved otherwise… so I had to step away,” he said.

“I’m not involved in production, or postproduction, so I can only give them the material I’ve given them and hope that it is helpful for them. I’m curious to see what they do with it,” he continued. “Ultimately, with my responsibilities [elsewhere], I could not do what CBS needed to have done in the time they needed it done for Star Trek. It felt like it was best for me to focus on landing the plane with American Gods and making sure that was delivered in as elegant and sophisticated a fashion as I could possibly do.”

However, Fuller stressed he still felt friendly towards the show and wished it all the best. He said, “Creating [Discovery] and getting to the heart of what the important themes were to me as a Star Trek fan—how do we get along with people who are different than ourselves?” he asked in the interview. “How do we find common ground? How do move into the future together? Those themes were implicit in the scripts that I wrote before I left, and the storylines [I plotted].”

The showrunner also said he wouldn’t rule out a return to Discovery one day. Fuller said new showrunners Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts have his number if they ever want to call him.

Bryan Fuller Is No Longer Involved With Star Trek: Discovery, Talks About Bitter Departure from the Show

For a guy that really wanted to make a new Star Trek, he sure went about it in an odd way.. Overbooking and little foresight.

Ah well. Looking forward to more casting news.

Read a few things from other people involved in the series, and basically Fuller had a great concept and stories, but right away wasn't putting nearly enough time into the series. He was already show running one show and has several more in production. Trek is his dream series, and committed when he shouldn't have. He went in to request another delay to production, with little to show from the last delay with no casting, little production, and escalating costs, and wasn't willing to invest more time until his current show premiered.

It's too bad because he is a brilliant writer, but is known to occasionally act like a diva.

This is gonna be a disaster. I expect a series that looks great but will not feel like Trek at all

I really enjoyed the trek episodes written by fuller and it sucks that he is out of discovery completely.

Who the fuck are Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts?

They are a writing team who has been together since working on Roswell together. They have worked closely with Bryan Fuller on his previous series, and have been Executive producer on a number of series. They also have Akiva Goldsman who is an academy award winning writer and producer, to help steer the ship.

According to CBS Corporation’s Les Moonves, Netflix has paid for the entire production budget of Star Trek: Discovery. Netflix will be airing the series outside of the U.S. and Canada.

Netflix just took it off the table for the rest of the world,” said Moonves. “Basically, Star Trek is going on CBS All Access for free.”

“The back-end is now becoming more important than the front end,” said Moonves. No back-end sales would mean that CBS would be unable to offer shows like Star Trek: Discovery.

wait does that mean we will have it on netflix ?

This all puts me even farther into the 'nope' catergory when it comes to CBS All Access.

I have Netflix and CBS already, and rarely watch CBS.
