Squatting 405: One year for 4 plates

There is some adjusting to these shoes I see
Having some issue with balance. Hit decent depth at 405 easy and came out of the hole fast but fell backward a quarter of the way up. Could've gritted it out but I'm nursing a very slight strain in my left groin so I dumped it. Dropping to 135 and 225 for Sets of 10 to 15. Maybe I'll try and max again after a couple weeks of using them

Yeah, the shoes can take some time to get used to.

Do u know what caused u to fall back? E.g. the bar moving, break in core tightness, etc.

Just not used to the motion being on my toes more
Bar got behind my center
Watching the video of it I kind of shift my whole body back instead of standing up
Probably would've been fine if I'd kept going
Not sweating it

I always tell myself I want to squat 405 again, but every time I go back to serious squatting, my knees act up again (3 ACL reconstructions and arthritis).

I just want to say that you make a lot of excuses.

This is a decent thread for me.

My previous maxes are at least 3-4 months away from me, as I venture back into more lifting and try to maintain my bodyweight of 124kg.

I only count my lifts if they are powerlifting worthy.

So, 192.5kg was quite some time ago. 424lbs.

However, I've been struggling with 352lbs whilst mostly boxing and sometimes lifting.

Shoulders tonight, so I'll update this tomorrow :)

That's where I disagree with you. It was very, very clearly high. It's not even close, nor is it questionable. It doesn't help him to say as much.

He definitely got depth on the 415 lift.

The others weren't even close.

This is a great thread and i wish I could join it, but 405 is out of reach for me in 2015. If I stay injury free I want to hit 160kg (352lbs) at the end of the year which is double-bw.

At first I'm like "WTF why is someone splitting **** hairs on cincy's depth and telling me I'm wrong" Saying it was way high... but then I ran the video again a few times. And damn is pretty high. Like someone else said not half rep BS high but high at the just the right point where another two inches would probably bury Cincy. Still I think he can get where he needs to be fast enough.

I've been using a ton of chain on my workouts and it's allowed me to stay deep while not killing my hips and lower back. I set the chains so they barely touch the ground when I'm at the bottom. I keep two running weight moved per workout totals of just weight and weight plus chain because in the end the chain doesn't count for my total.

Looked like more than 2 inches to me.

Yea looked high to me.

On another note I hit 370 the other day so I might be able to get the 405 by the end of the year. However I am cutting right now and while my squat is still going up I don't know for how long or if I will get back in to a calorie surplus this year.

Here's mine:

I could only upload it using my VPN. Hopefully, my post won't get deleted as usual.

What gym is that in Beijing.

I think my back is too messed up to try 405 anytime soon. I tend to stick to 120 kilos or less these days. I'm actually trying to lose weight, I'm thinking of taking spinning class and everything. Of course I'm thinking of taking spinning class for other reasons besides weight loss.

Whats the point of chains if they barely touch the ground at the bottom?

Ooh got me
Admitted I'm having difficulty with hitting depth and posted as such at the time I posted the video
Took people's advice and got shoes
Admitted I'm not used to them yet
Said I'd go low weight and get used to them before going for broke
Where's the excuse?
Now when I post a video saying suck it I nailed it and it's high you can attack me

Ah don't let him get to you

You see, (posts on sherdog) are a lot like Saturday Night Live sketches. Lots of them are awful, some are decent, and a few are pretty good. But then there's that one--that one bit of advice that you needed, which is as amazingly perfect as "Massive Head Wound Harry"

^ nobody's attacking you. You've just posted a lot in this thread. And thus far have failed to produce. Kinda leaving yourself open there.

Here's some solid advice that you've probably already heard but is always useful. Know what good depth is. Film every set. Watch them back and scrutinise the fuck out of yourself until you get it right. That's what I had to do with my deadlift at one point, and it worked.
