You can't move up a class against a world beater on 11 days notice.

Islam was right...he only did it for the money.

What a disappointment. This fight could've been an all time great like the first one if Volk didn't stupidly take it on short notice.

WTF man.

11 days notice? No problem.

to do what with? lose another clear decision? this was his best chance, to catch islam lacking. unfortunately it turned out to be him who got got.
But he does not have that kind of power.
He darts in and out like Frankie Edgar.
That style is based on timing: drilling it into your nervous system.
Pure strength? That's more God given, sticking around even if out of shape. He's just not the type of fighter who should take short notice fights.
Usman has power in his hands that's still there coming off the couch.

Money and in the end the reward was bigger than the risk, he is still a champ at 145.

how was islam lacking, when he was the only one that actually trained for this fight?
Well he didn't, he trained for Charles Oliveira. Usman also took a fight at a higher weight class on the same short notice and was still the fresher guy doing more damage in the 2nd half.

Volk is a great fighter, but Islam is just too good. We've always known his wrestling and grappling was better than everybody, and now he's blasting guys in the face and landing head kicks. Islam didn't train for Volk either, and the fight lasted 3 minutes, so it's not like Volk's cardio was a factor.

Money must have been a big factor, he probably regrets his decision.
Every times he spends that money he'll be reminded of getting wrecked in this fight and then crying at the press conference. The bump in pay would have to be double or triple his entire contract to make this loss worth it. He can't go for 155 anymore. And by getting knocked out he may have destroyed his chin and ability to take smaller shots in the next fight and altered his career. Just a disaster and everyone saw this coming. 11 days notice after coming off surgery with no camp against a champion in the weight class above you.
