First fight was competitive but barely competitive. The gigantic strength difference between Islam and Volk is blatant and an uphill climb for Volk. If Volk wasn't able to beat Islam in the standup his path to victory was always going to be super narrow and depends on Islam making mistakes, which he rarely makes ever since he got KO'd years ago.

He didn't look right going in and all that talk about thinking he was going to stop Islam early because he didn't want to test his gas tank was concerning too. He'll never get back to where he was legacy wise. There would have been an opportunity for the rematch but this wasn't it. I hope he doesn't compound this mistake by fighting Topuria in January.
