Slack: The only way she (Ronda) gets into clinch is running forward and eating blows

Read what you wrote. He admits he is just a fan, and just started analyzing fight techniques. Then you jump to "the man knows what he's talking about". How, exactly, does that follow? I don't know why people buy into his mediocre "insights". Slack may be one of the most overrated things on Sherdog, and that's saying a lot.

Fight analyst, Robin Black, has called Slack the best analyst in the field.

Former pro fighter, Brian Stann seems to be taken with him as well:

TJ Dillashow cited Jack Slack's articles as a part of his preperation process for the first Barao match:

The guys at Glory kickboxing are "big fans" of Jack Slack's work:

Here's Kenny Florian (also a retired pro, since you might not know) on Jack Slack:

Slack started out on Sherdog, so Sherdoggers may take more pride in him (or, conversely, resent him more) but he is not a Sherdog thing.

ETA: Obviously, not every word that spills from his keyboard is gospel. But I don't think it's a stretch to infer that he "knows what he's talking about".

I don't understand how people who have never actually implemented any of the techniques they claim to be an expert on in actual competition have any credibility.

Your problem with the guy is that he doesn't train UFC? How do you know he doesn't?
Also, there are plenty of sports analysts that have not been successful athletes themselves.

I think his wordiness tricks people into thinking he knows what he's talking about. Most of his predictions are just vague enough so that he can look like he was right regardless of what happens. You posted a bunch of opinions, which is fine. I'm sure that there are successful fighters who don't really care for him. The bottom line is that unless you're a successful competitor or trainer you haven't really demonstrated unequivocally that you "know your stuff". Personally, I find most of his stuff prosaic and uninteresting, and I would encourage serious fans to train a bit, watch a lot of fights, and think for themselves rather than worship at the alter of some anonymous armchair analyst.

Blah, blah, blah, blah said the writer for a site with 8k monthly visits, and a 87% bounce rate (Fightland.com). And Fightland.vice.com doesn't rank at all.

Jack Slack is not an authority, he is a person with an opinion .. that apparently not many are searching for.

And there it is ...

Well that's been working for grapplers since ufc1, so.......

Don't need to be an "expert analyst" to know this. I've been pointing this shit out for ages.

Ronda would lose to almost any man with mma experience

She'd lose to any half-decent athlete that is capable of throwing a strike. If said man had actual combat experience then she'd die.

when will mma fans finally come out and admit that the greatest of all time in their favorite sport is a woman? must hurt that this sport started as an "alpha male" sport

Slack activley trains and has admitted multiple times throughout his material that he activley trains.

Don't be dumb.

Once again stupidity shines.

Slack has stated multiple times he does not make predictions. This can be sourced.

Maybe you should actually read his material instead of skimming child.

That's exactly my point. Why make solid predictions that can undermine your undeserved internet fame when you can just write walls of text that can be later be interpreted to match up with whatever happens in a fight? If you need Jack Slack to think for you then too bad for you, I prefer my own counsel.

I was referring to the hype that the UFC has built around Ronda. Conor may be over-hyped but he still is a good fighter.

Ronda has been kicking ass to the best the 135lbs division had yet to offer, the day Cyborg makes the weight and beats her, well, we might only say that she is the second best female fighter, is not both their fault the competition is so far behind them, even when Cyborg at 145lbs is not exactly beating the very best, as most of her past wins are against fighters with poor records and some of coming up in weight to fight.

he doesn't make predictions, he analyzes fights. so no, there it isn't.

"Predictions" were not the reason for my quoting that post first off .. so you can stay hung up on that singular word from the post I quoted if you chose.

As an "analyst" there are no more than 8k people potentially checking for what he is saying, and so his analysis and opinions don't rate very high, yet he is being quoted here like he is some authority in this sport ... he is not, and that is all.

I notice you choose to make a ridiculous attack on the man and the sites who publish his work, rather than the analysis itself......................

Once again he proves how clueless he is.

We use him as an analyst because we have posters like you trying to analyze something they can't comprehend.

you highlights a whole section, where his "predictions" were mentioned more than once.

again, rather than counter his analysis, you just choose to trash the guy. no real argument.

Has the person who wrote this article ever watched an mma fight in his life? This is a fight...last time I checked you get hit in fights

aggressive behavior doesn't get you knocked out in mma; not nearly as much as it does in boxing. Plus Holly doesn't have power, which once again is way more important in mma than it is in boxing.

You can only make someone pay for overaggressive behavior in mma when you are confident you can stay on your feet, aka - WHEN YOU CAN WRESTLE. Watch Cro Cop when he fought in Pride. There sure as hell isn't a Cro Cop in this division, not even close.

If you want to beat Ronda you have to take the fight TO HER. Something Cyborg would be more than happy to do, and hence why they're not fighting. :icon_chee
