Slack: The only way she (Ronda) gets into clinch is running forward and eating blows

"Even if she carried her same brilliance into a clinch with stronger individuals

Been saying this for a while and I get the same response "Ronda is a Newaza specialist"… "You don't understand grappling"… "Ronda does have footwork"… And then when I ask for an example… Crickets.

It doesn't matter how good your grappling is, if you have to walk in a straight line, chin up, winging punches to get into the clinch you will be stopped by male fighters.

When your opponents utilise jabs, teeps, lateral movement, footwork/pivots etc you need to cut angles, piece together boxing fundamentals, level changes and mix up your 'MMA' game to get to your dominant positions.

Ronda is very basic in what she does. There are only 30 WBW ranked fighters in the world however and none of them have technically sound MMA skills.

There are mens fighters ranked outside the top 450 with superior skills to anyone Ronda has fought. Guys only training part-time who have stopped Olympic Level Judoka's. The women's talent level will always be low.

Damn Bowerman, there's not a single Ronda thread where you're not making the same comments -- basically saying that she's shit and the women are shit.

You need to stop being jealous of Ronda's success dude. She's a multi millionaire and is set for life with fame and fortune, and it's well deserved.

Just cuz you're a cheeto eating chubster who's prolly on a tight budget and not that successful, that doesn't mean it's okay to hate on Ronda 24/7.

You should take a break from hating on her. Release the hate my friend, and you'll feel better inside (instead of being so bitter all the time).

Ronda bless.

She is still getting better though. If she works more on her footwork, maybe works with someone like ludwig or winklejohn, she could really become nigh invincible at 135.

The truth hurts. I'll steal a line from Ronda. "Don't cry".

I don't understand how people who have never actually implemented any of the techniques they claim to be an expert on in actual competition have any credibility.

Those that do are usually A-N-A-L-Y-S-T-S. You know the type, if at sporting events, they wear headphones, talk on camera etcetera.

JS is just a fan, he admits it and just started analyzing fight techniques throughout combat sports. The man knows what he is talking about. Why does it grieve you that he does?

The ONLY thing separating him and a normal fan is the fact that he steps away from Bandwagons and ONLY reports what is needed, NOT from a fan perspective. Quite simple really.

Reread my post.

I didn't say I was upset or sad about it I said I didn't understand it.

In my opinion, an expert in combat should be implementing the techniques one claims to be an expert on.

Sure everything he says sounds good on paper but he never puts it to practice so I imagine there are many variables he can't acccount for.

I stand by post and opinion.

Yes I have been noticed that since I first saw Ronda fight. I really shows how weak wmma is. In most matches she can just walk up to her apponents and put her hands around their neck. Not late in the match when the apponent is dead tired and pressed up against the cage. No, right at the start of the fight. When the apponent is fresh and standing up in the middle of the octagon.

Any fighter who allows that to happend shouldn't really have a spot in the UFC. The problem is if those fighters were removed there would be no wmma at all.

And what is it that makes you think JS has never competed? I thought Jack Slack was a pseudonym for anonyminity.

And Greg Jackson has just as much of not less experience in martial arts growing up, yet he is one of the greatest trainers and would probably be one of the greatest analysts of he wanted.

And I understand Joe Rogan will hype up things in the UFC, but why would he talk up and recommend Jack Slack for no financial gain of any sort?

its true

but as long as edmond is her coach and keeps telling her that she has world class standup, its not gonna change

I think if the UFC has to pay a million dollars and a world tour to try and sell you to the world it says something.

it says they are better at marketing than you are because you don't agree with it, even now that we have seen how huge of a draw he has become.

Bill Belichick is considered the best NFL coach and has never played any main position in collegiate or professional leagues.

It doesn't always matter.

So what are there more of, Bill Belichicks, or armchair nobodies claiming to be football experts even though they've never done anything to prove it, including coaching a team to greatness?

If you really can't understand how this can work then you're a moran

Read what you wrote. He admits he is just a fan, and just started analyzing fight techniques. Then you jump to "the man knows what he's talking about". How, exactly, does that follow? I don't know why people buy into his mediocre "insights". Slack may be one of the most overrated things on Sherdog, and that's saying a lot.

Ronda would lose to just about every guy who's trained MMA for 6+ months in the world.

Spar and roll with a woman of any weight and you'll immediately see the difference.

Ronda would lose to almost any man with mma experience

Many great boxing coaches have never competed, or have underwhelming careers at the most.

Freddy Roach

Phil Jackson was no phenomenal player himself but the most successful NBA coach ever.

Anybody who ever trained a martial art knows that being a good competitor and being a good coach are two different things. You can have great technical understanding but lack certain physical or athletic qualities.

who cares? the only wmma fighter i've ever seen 1 punch out cold ko a fighter is ronda. i've seen a few punches that wobbled them then stopped them with followup. even cyborg has no 1 punch out cold ko's. so ronda can eat a shot or 2 if it means gaining the advantage. she's proven she has a good chin and can take the blows.

she's not fighting any man any time soon, but i assume she'd change her gameplan.
