It's a travesty that wsm has no live coverage in this day and age. By all accounts novakov beasted and good to 're Tom in second. Really hope next year has less people pulling out or unable to make it.

Hard to judge since we won't get to see footage. I mean the turnaround was also quick especially since they lost the 1st Day, Conditioning was definitely a factor .

On his personal blog during events he talked about being disappointed with his first day.

On his blog I follow he talked about trying to cut weight and getting a dietitian. His dietitian is a specialist with strongest men competitors. He's from England I believe?

I get the feeling it will be hard to find repeat performances in the future. I think also the effort with promoting sponsors is getting ridiculous.

Their sponsors CBS an that UAE boarcaster both have exclusive contracts. They both reduce it to like 1 day I think?

The thing is have people pay for the live stream 20 dollars for 2 days tons I am sure would be willing.

People would absolutely pay for a live stream. Next year has to be different. I want them to hold it after Xmas before new year.

Tom lost it on the hold, came last in that event, Laurence said that was his weakness. He's got the frame and athleticism though, he will be WSM guaranteed.

Novikov was awesome, beating that field with a max deadlift by a good margin as well. Also the dumbell press, showing he's not just trained in specific events, he's got a wide breadth of talent for anything they throw at them. Seeing him, Licis and Tom next year is going to be amazing.

I was pleased that they went fucking weird with the events this year, still no sumo but it's a step in the right direction imo.

I'm looking forward to the Arnold's and the Shaw classic now, I feel strongman is at a tipping point right now.

I hope it is. The number of top guys with YouTube channels now is great and should really help the sport

Even prime Shaw wasn't close to Tom in atlas stones imo. Thor beat Tom in the stones at WSM last year and also has the world record for 120-200 kg stone run, but I think Tom has improved a lot since last year.

I'd back Tom in a stone off at this point even if Thor had continued working at strongman. Not that I'd be surprised by a Thor victory.

The issue as Brian already admitted is these events are becoming less about pure strength

I don't agree with this. WSM has always had a speed element to it. This year it had a max 18" inch deadlift, log ladder which only 2 people could finish (Brian didn't even come close to finishing it), atlas stones up to 210 kg which most people couldn't finish and a heavier than usual hercules hold. The kegs from the keg toss were the exact same weight as in 2014. The only event that should've been a little heavier was the yoke medley.

I'd also give the edge to Tom. He did the stone run in 19 seconds yesterday, that is just insane. It was the same stone run as last year and there the best time was by Licis who did it in 25 seconds.

I'd love to see Thor come back in 2022 btw.

Thor vs Mateusz vs Martins vs Novikov vs Tom. Imagine that.

Would be the strongest field ever imo

Agreed, it's got heavier year after year.

I just said "fucking hell" out loud reading Tom's time there. Wow, knocking over a 5th off the previous years champs time is insane.

Agreed, we are in possibly the greatest age of strongman right now.

I just checked again and Licis' time was actually 27 seconds, so Tom beat that by 8 seconds. Insane

He's 22 , beast of a young man, too short for Strongman, even Novikov is at least 6'1 this guy is shorter than that.
I'm pretty sure he's around 6'1" because he slightly taller then larry who is 6 foot and Larry also weighs in at 290 lbs.

Could have sworn he is shorter , its funny that he is so damn wide he looks shorter than 6 foot.

Speaking of height anyone remember Andrew Raynes 5”3? He was like “what do they want me to do? Grow taller” after he failed to get the atlas stones on the platform at WSM 2001 lol.

HAFTHOR BJORNSSON and Eddie Hall will fight each other in Las Vegas next year. The battle between two of the world's strongest men will take place in September 2021, with the exact date and location yet to be confirmed. Bjornsson wrote: "It's official. September 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Mountain vs the Beast.

I wonder if there will be a thread on this, (I’m sure there will) so cringe. Thor looks to have suffered a stroke judging by his face

That's Bell's palsy the result of a bacterial infection.

Treatment is steroids so go figure!
