Thor had a virus called Bell’s palsy that caused him to have something similar to a stroke and had effected his face he has improved a ton since when he got hit by it in 2017.Speaking of height anyone remember Andrew Raynes 5”3? He was like “what do they want me to do? Grow taller” after he failed to get the atlas stones on the platform at WSM 2001 lol.
HAFTHOR BJORNSSON and Eddie Hall will fight each other in Las Vegas next year. The battle between two of the world's strongest men will take place in September 2021, with the exact date and location yet to be confirmed. Bjornsson wrote: "It's official. I wonder if there will be a thread on this, (I’m sure there will) so cringe. Thor looks to have suffered a stroke judging by his face

Being used in GoT feels like it went to Thor's head a bit.Thor really comes across as very unlikable, especially in the last 3-4 years. His behaviour at WSM 2017 was incredibly petulant.......you can understand why Eddie felt hurt/disappointed/angry by it. Eddie has his moments too, but in general seems to be a halfway decent bloke.

That History channel show with Shaw, Best, Hall, and Oberst was hilarious as they were all fucking with each other constantly but they're still like that on Social Media with each other so you can tell it hasn't gone to their head.
Yet.
I know Nick Best personally and he's never had a bad word to say bout him.Yeah.
Whilst strongman is predominantly made up of "alpha-male" types who are highly competitive with each other, there is an underlying sense of comradeship and respect between most of them......you quite often get the sense that Thor isn't overly popular with his peers.
I was about to add, a lot of this feels like Eddie and Thor just don't like each other which is perfectly fine.I know Nick Best personally and he's never had a bad word to say bout him.
Anecdotal of course.

I also struggle to figure out when Eddie is being a ball buster and being serious too.
Yeah.

This is just not true. Basically every strongman likes Thor except Eddie. Thor is really good friends with Martins, Shahlaei and the Stoltman brothers. He's also friends with Big Z (who also always talks very highly about Thor), Kearney, Kieliszkowski, Belsak, you name 'em. Basically everyone except Eddie.
He' s not friends with Brian but that is to be expected. Brian, especially in the beginning of his career, hated everyone who was competition to him. Mike Jenkins for example. Shaw was great friends with Mike but after Mike beat him at the Arnold Shaw never talked to him again. As he got older it has become less though. Brian also has a much bigger history of complaining than Hafthor.
That's essentially what Shaw has been saying the last few years.@irish_thug looking at older competitions , Pudz would have done well in this past Contest with the quick Turnaround, Novikov was deserving but I feel like the events are trending downwards "Wolrds most Conditioned and athletic Strongman " and no one was as Conditioned as him.
I actually agree with him. Sure, Thor was petulant at WSM 2017. However, pretty much every athlete has had tantrums or made excuses in the past. Post ESM 2017 Eddie said it was basically a draw and Thor only won because someone else placed between them on an event. He also admitted that he was a pretty unlikable dude during his career until he won. And yet he still wants to blame Thor for it. It's all a bit of a shitshow, and I'm not saying Thor's behavior in 2017 was right. But I think it's unfair to constantly hold it against him and not blame Eddie for his own shit.\Welcome to the thread Thor.

I don't think this is entirely true. WSM always had events that relied on conditioning and speed, so that's not a recent trend. But if you look at the weights that are being used, they are definitely getting heavier.@irish_thug looking at older competitions , Pudz would have done well in this past Contest with the quick Turnaround, Novikov was deserving but I feel like the events are trending downwards "Wolrds most Conditioned and athletic Strongman " and no one was as Conditioned as him.
The issue is that Shaw didn't win the deadlift and couldn't finish the log ladder so it's not like his static strength was the best and he just got outcardioed by smaller guys. He also didn't win the keg toss, an event he's been dominant in the past. I think it's just age or some other factor and nothing really to do with the events with Shaw.
I wasn't making excuses for him at all. I love Brian, but I had the opinion going into this that he had seen his last big title. Just that he's said in the past few years there has been more of a shift towards mobility based events. The issue is that Shaw didn't win the deadlift and couldn't finish the log ladder so it's not like his static strength was the best and he just got outcardioed by smaller guys.
