I wasn't making excuses for him at all. I love Brian, but I had the opinion going into this that he had seen his last big title. Just that he's said in the past few years there has been more of a shift towards mobility based events.

Yeah I don't mean disrespect to him, he's one of the greats but is just past it imo. I haven't analysed all the past wsm events but moving events have always been a big part of it. Hell I've seen old footage of a loading race done in knee high water which would be brutal on cardio.

One issue I have with wsm lately, beyond the obvious coverage, is they always seem to be holding the events somewhere tropical. Give the athletes a damn break and choose somewhere temperate for once you sick bastards.

The tourism advert pays for a lot of the event costs

It's his home life effecting his performance imo. He projected an internet presence that suggested he had moved past whatever that was and could now train with the same drive as before.

I think that might not be an accurate representation of the facts, but I'm just speculating.

I've here people speculate that too. I just think it's age getting to him but who knows

I remember watching the world's strongest Viking a few years ago and it was held outside in the snow.

As it should be, I would accept nothing else for an event called that

My hometown is a tourist destination and easily has good days around 70 degrees in spring or autumn

The reason (esp now they don’t have that met-x) money). Is for tax and liability purposes. Numerous interviews from Edmonds stating this.

WSM just needs to start putting on shows in a stadium or something. Like the ASC. Easier to control the temperature as well that way.

And if they insist on doing it outside, they should indeed not choose fucking tropical hellholes. But on top of that, the organisation is really bad. Events never happen when they are supposed to, so athletes are cooled down again when they start. They change weights or even the entire events mid-competition and they have huge breaks between events. So athletes are up the entire day with a few rest periods in between. Unlike some other shows where it is a few hours of competing in a row.

Shaw’s been top 5 guy for 10 years+..... not surprising he’s starting to decline in the last couple of years.

Hard to maintain that level in any sport, let alone one where you and your competition are that big.

The wsm organisers are the same people that do the giants live events in stadiums right? So kind of strange they don't do it for wsm. I guess wsm has always been outside so it's kind of a tradition but still not an excuse to be disorganised as uck

They are the same people, but they work under different management I think. They are their own boss at Giants Live, but when they organize WSM they work for IMG.

Amazing video about Tom Stoltman autism.

I liked hearing Tom say if he hadn't fucked up in anvil carry and stones he would have won, considering he's still developing, man, that boy is fucking strong.

Watching Novikov in the anvil carry was insane, I'm pretty sure he was moving about as fast as I could run.

Big Z looked about as alpha as you can get, dude was like an iceberg with its own gravity that people got drawn towards. At a competition of alphas he was top dog. Impressed with how Tom carried himself though, he believes he is going to win and this is all part of his story.

Is this that Dutch giant guy?
Yes and he will never compete in any strongman challenges just thought it would be amazing if he tried lol.

EDIT: He's the only guy I ever seen who made the 6'9" Thor look like a child LOL again.

Sometimes I wonder if this was the reason why all these guys had something to do with the World Strongest Man last week. There is plenty of on going talk about doing another one of these Strongest Men in History shows on the History Channel. I heard part of the reason they have not filmed another one is contractual and the other was COVID 19 making it impossible to travel overseas. I was surprised by Brian response when he was asked would be do another Strongest Men in History show because I expected him to say the show took to much out of his time to compete but no he said he would be willing to do another one.
