DF on 2025 independence from IGN and next steps:

Direct: (Time to watch 33m)

Statement:

Not sure where else to post this, but Nightdive Studios has done it again, for the third year in a row announced at Quakecon a remaster of a 90s fps classic, this time with a combo pack of remastered versions of Heretic and Hexen.

I’m most looking forward to being able to play on console so I can play with my buddies who only have PS5, and maybe in a couple of years some split screen couch coop or deathmatch with my son.

Yeah this was a nice surprise. I have owned these games for years but haven't been able to play them without proper controller support.

Director for French house Sandfall Interactive and Clair Obscur developer says to expect follow-up project to Expedition 33 because it's only one expedition they've told so far in this world.

A new game will be on the way, then, though likely not a direct sequel. Broche stated later in the interview he prefers to forget previous work when he "writes sequels".

And, as has been noted in previous interviews, Broche was heavily influenced by the Final Fantasy series. So if Clair Obscur is the franchise name, it's likely whatever is next will be completely different to Expedition 33 - just like Square Enix's series.

Elden Ring film adaptation moving forward, it sounds like.

Distributor to be A24 out of New York City with director looking like Alex Garland (screenwriter for 2002's 28 Days Later), but I don't see anything in his filmography worthy of helming a Miyazakian adaptation; maybe just me.

• A24 said 'fuck yeah' when asked if they'd back the film

• Alex Garland wrote a 160-page draft and made 40 pages of imagery for the pitch

• He flew to Japan to pitch it directly to creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and seal the deal

Most of his films have reviewed well from what I see. Any recommendations I should check out? I've maybe seen Ex Machina, not sure.

28 days later, 28 weeks later, Ex Machina and dredd are all good. Wasn't a big fan of 28 weeks later it was to weird but that weirdness would work in an ER movie.

Techland officially delays standalone title Dying Light: The Beast for September 2025. Reason cited being extra polish that players deserve.

The more I watch gameplay the more I'm getting pumped for this. Playing at night is going to be the tits.

The finishers and vehicular collision for roadkills look especially stepped up in this from what I’ve seen too. 100 a night game for immersive nighttime survival against volatiles with bonus points if available over Halloween.

Not sure what they'd do to differentiate it from otherwise war movie mash but my interest would really only pique if they focused on MW2 from the 2000s with Shepherd and Ghost.

That's a legitimately cool and iconic story to tell but I'd want action to concede centre stage to character so they can deep-dive darkly on Riley as both operator and man.

If they're going nouveau with Farah and all that, 'that' movie should have been made years ago. Crazy played out, IMO.

The real question is how they will add microstransactions to the movie.
