Several years ago there were threats failed attack against the Muhammed cartoon context in Texas. In Paris there was the killings at Charlie Hebdo. And in Denmark the attack against an Islam critic.

Point is that you can criticize any religion - except Islam - in the West and be safe, because a whole lot of Muslims do not believe in freedom of expression.

I disagree, I think Muslims have a different concept of freedom of expression. Even in the West you’re not free to express anything you want, in France or Germany you can go to jail for saying something anti-Semitic. The American concept of freedom of expression is more expansive than Europe but still has limits. So freedom of expression has limits, to most Muslims someone going out of their way to be offensive to the Prophet isn’t about freedom of expression it’s much more nefarious than that. And a small subset of Muslims will retaliate for it because more Muslims actually take their faith seriously than other religions.
