International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V9

The problem with this line of thought is that whether you like it or not, Russia's elites have been saying dumb shit like Vladivostok to Lisbon and they mean it.

Even if they are completely incapable of the task this is their goal and we have to take it seriously and them failing on their doorstep doesn't change the fact that they have openly expressed their intent to dominate the entire continent.

Real preparations need to be made in Europe to keep them in check for many decades to come. They can't be trusted any longer.

This. If Putin's plan had worked flawlessly, with Ukrainian resistance collapsing within a matter of days, with the West too afraid to intervene, does anyone really think he would have stopped there?

Putin wants to restore the USSR to it's former, "glory". If he'd taken Ukraine, he'd simply have moved on to the next country on his list. And the one after that. Until one day we wake up and find the Russian Army steaming over the Polish border. And then it's shit or bust time.

Personally, I truly do admire the courage and tenacity of the Ukrainian people. But our leaders aren't pouring Billions in armament, training, intelligence etc into this war out of they goodness of their hearts. They are doing it to bleed out the Russian Bear, defang and declaw it before they have to fight it directly.

"The $521m (£472m) vessel, which belongs to Alexei Mordashov - an ally of Russian leader Vladimir Putin - left Hong Kong earlier this week.

South African opposition leaders had urged the government to seize the 465ft long (141m) yacht called The Nord.

But a spokesman for President Cyril Ramaphosa said he saw "no reason" to comply with Western sanctions.

"South Africa has no legal obligation to abide by sanctions imposed by the US and EU," Vincent Magwenya told reporters in Pretoria on Tuesday.

"South Africa's obligations with respect to sanctions relate only to those that are specifically adopted by the United Nations," Mr Magwenya added, noting that Mr Mordashov is not under any UN-sponsored sanctions.

Western countries and their allies have imposed sanctions on more than 1,000 Russian individuals and businesses in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Like many other African countries, Mr Ramaphosa's government has so far avoided directly criticising Russia, abstaining in several UN votes that have expressly condemned the war. Pretoria has also called for a negotiated settlement to end the conflict."

Is Ukraine worth nuclear Armageddon?

That is a good question, to the wrong adress.

Only reason Ukraine is in this war is RUSSIA. If Russia didn't start shit with annexing Crimea (with no provocation on the peninsula whatsoever - no genocide was commited or planned on that region from Kyiv) we wouldn't have this conversation.

Only force capable of ending this war is the one that started it and escalated it. (The Russian Federation)

Only force that can go nuclear against Ukraine is RUSSIA. They can decide to not do that of course if they are not crazy. Even if they do, conventional war will go on and they'll likely lose it, because their army sucks. We can't help them in that regard.

Only force capable of starting a nuclear Armageddon, by first attacking with nukes NATO territory, is RUSSIA.

So all depends on what decisions RUSSIA makes. You should ask Moscow rulers what plans they have for the future. The defending side (Ukraine and those helping them) are just going to REACT to what RUSSIA initiates and brings to the table first.

Nuclear holocaust isn’t worth over Ukraine. It’s why we haven’t intervened because of the risk. What makes you think the risk would be lower after he detonates a nuke? It’s a major fucking risk. Hypothetically speaking, if he does drop a nuke, then I wouldn’t be surprised if you reconsider on if we should declare war on Russia or not.
If west caves in now Russia will use the threat more consistently in the future. Once there’s a pattern they will hesitate less to escalate and west saying they’ll do something about it has less credibility. This will greatly increase the possibility on nuclear holocaust in the future.

South Africa might piss off with their opinion and stop to dream that they are so important.
As appendix for china to deliver commodities most likely will be usable....

Russia's ambitions promised to fans aren't just restore USSR like stuff. Thing a lot of ppl in europe are dreaming about. Like let them and then.....they are dreaming that " to Berlin " and our flag in Lisbon will not be attempted....

&
Next thing.
Looks that some % of Lithuanian politics are idiots ....
NATO should asap station more troops in Suvalk corridor... today should start... to station self propelled hotwizers and air defense systems.

Why?
Cos some % of politicians are crazy and wants to gave Ukr too much.
While Lithuania is eurozone country and NATO member and at first should fultfil duties for EU and NATO.

Not to remove air defense batteries from Suvalk corridor.
Russia will attack if these will be removed and not replaced....

Politicians sometimes are ....idiots.
Maybe they should had been incorporated in U.K or U.S ? Then someone with brains had helped them how to think realistically?

Somewhere in Brazil, a Clone of Adolf Hitler is watching Russia getting butt-fucked in Ukraine, shaking his head and wondering how the fuck he lost WWII:)

One of the main criticisms I have, and others have had, of the German advance on Russia was their brutal methods in Ukraine.

Ukrainians at the time would have likely switched sides (some did) and helped take Moscow, but instead they slaughtered them like all the other slavs. It eventually became an area so rife with partisan activity it was completely untenable to hold the area and deal with Russian counter offenses because of their barbaric approach to occupation.

von Kleist, who is probably one of the German's best generals, if not the actual best, recognized this and tried to work with the locals. He refused to round up Jews or take slave labor, but he was so good no one questioned his methods. He recruited like 800,000 Cossacks from the region without any sort of official authorization to do so, but obviously it wasn't enough with just him taking that approach.

The Russian's actually charged him with "alienating the population through kindness" and he died in Soviet prison in 1954 a war criminal.

I was actually listening to a lecture by Stephen Kotkin the other day and he mentioned that the German’s had inflicted so much damage on Ukraine that they had to import food into the bread basket of Europe.

The whole rationale for wanting Ukraine was the rich land which could keep the Reich fed. But Nazism was a package deal, the move to the east was not predicated on the Invisible Hand of the Market working itself out and the Nazi’s and Ukrainians treating each other nicely because it would benefit the both of them, so that isn’t even an option.

Where do you live? Are you close by to major city? Is Ukraine worth nuclear Armageddon? You’re fucking stupid.
What’s so nonsensical about asking questions on the risk of nuclear annihilation? If you live through it, you would wish we would’ve never intervened. It’s a huge calculated risk. I wonder if you would retract from your statement if Putin is evil enough to use a nuke on Ukraine.

I’m not scared. I’m just being sensical. Not wanting every major city to be nuked is not cowardice. Where do you live by the way? Do you live in or near a major city? Or are you in some rural area miles away? Are you in the military? Are you willing to fight the Russians or do you want other people to do the fighting for you? I wonder if you’re just full of bravado.

Of course you are scared. Your entire position is over a fear of what Russia MIGHT do, which is start nuclear war. It is fine to be afraid of that but you are afraid.

Your position above is not as clear as you think it is as it requires others to believe Russia will STOP invading neighbours or we just allow them to invade any neighbours due to the threat of nuclear war.

The World learned via recent history, that allowing them to take one and then another and another country in the hopes they stop not only does not work, but makes them stronger, as they add more troops and resources for a worse battle down the road.

If you learned the lessons from WW2, then acting now to stop Putin and Russia is not only reasonable but logical and the threat of Nuclear is not a factor, as it is present in both scenarios.

"This footage released by the Joint Forces Task Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reportedly shows Ukrainian Forces destroy Russian military equipment and positions with artillery and precision strikes. Russian vehicles can be seen exploding from Ukrainian strikes. This footage has not been verified by The Sun."
