It doesn't matter. If we send them now, like your buddy was asking, they're going to sit somewhere in Ukraine for a year before anyone is trained to fight them, and even then it'll only be half a squadron, or 6 jets in the air. That will have no effect on the direction or outcome of the war.
The highest effect assumed that Ukr might get from F-16 was to use them as flying air defense platforms located far from frontline and used against missiles launched on targets close to Ukr western border.
With this demand for Patriot and SAMP-T batteries might had been reduced and also demand for most expensive missiles models versiòn for NASAMS batteries.....
Cos F-16 might be used to launch air to air missiles vs these missiles russia is using to shell western ukraine.
It is obiviously clear that Ukr will not get enough SAM batteries to cover all Ukr areas far from frontline.
Israel is small if compare with Kiev oblastj alone and they had to invest a lot of work and huge money during 4+ decades and turn country into weapons warehouse in order to achieve decent air defense.
Ukr doesn't have such obstacles and such small territory ....so mission impossible to achieve air defense only with SAM batteries.
