You have to remember though, the countries you are thinking about are much fucking smaller than the USA and our cities are nowhere near as big, by and large. Here in Cardiff, Wales, biking and walking to and from work is common but its a fucking tiny city and even this causes issues - a good few of my colleagues are complaining about 'classism' because our employer has cut car parking spaces to encourage biking/walking.
Good idea, yeah? Well, for someone like me who lives a 20min walk away and doesn't drive anyway, it's great. But for those lower earners who live in towns/villages outside of the city, they feel that the employer is assuming everyone has the money to get a big, expensive city centre house within biking distance. I do see their point to be honest.
