Elections RFK Selected as United States Secretary of Health and Human Services

Who DOES know what they’re talking about? I mean, the US has seen a dramatic decline in health over the past several decades, but your critiquing the guy who hasn’t been in office for one day? Weird.
Depends on your definition of healthy. At every age life expectancy is higher today than in any previous decade, largely due to those big pharma companies he loves to demonize.

RFK jr will not make a dent in the obesity epidemic. Nothing he has proposed (or has the power to change) will fix it. What he will do is greatly hinder the advancement of modern medicine, which to date has been so effective it outweighs the health burden caused by poor diets and lifestyle habits.

With due respect, that's a bit of a letdown. "Symptoms" can overlap, but give little insight as to the cause. And she certainly doesn't say that a link exists. I'd be interested to see the broader context.
There is no definitive test for autism, so “symptoms” is all we got. The broader context is the Hannah Pohling case where it was successfully argued that vaccination was a cause/trigger of her “autism like symptoms.”

Great. More pharmaceutical interventions for lifestyle illnesses that weren’t even created for that purpose to begin with.
If you have a plausible alternative solution then I’m all ears. Changing how Americans live and eat isn’t happening anytime soon.

Gotcha. That name sounded familiar. The guy I’ve referenced a few times in here (Paul Offit) talks about the case in one of his books. He’s actually the very first link that comes up on google when I put her name in.

Check it out if you’re interested. I’d be up for reading a book that shows your side if you care to suggest one.

The problem with pharmaceuticals will always be the nature of capitalism. RFK did an interview with Krystal Ball and Kyle Kulinski where they directly asked him if he would address this element and he said he wouldn't.

There's a book called "Selling Sickness." I was surprised to hear Henry Gadsden, former CEO of MERCK saying that he wanted Americans taking medicine as commonly as they chew gum. Ever since then that's been the mentality. Corporatists are NOT going to change that, and when offered the chance to say he would, RFK balked. Choked.

That's because he's a fraud.

Explain this a little more

She asked him if he would Nationalize Big Pharma, or at least have a Public Option. Now consider how many drugs are developed using public money, which is the majority, and pharmaceutical companies buy the rights/patents, and then jacks the prices up obscenely.

I don’t think nationalizing would be a good idea tbh

I dont expect anyone in a capitalist system who subscribes to it to think so, but it's an effective means of curtailing the effects of corporate greed. I've seen Congressional hearings where pharmaceutical executives are asked about prices being 4x-10x higher here than other Countries for drugs. Essentially their answer is "because we can."

"Kennedy has advocated for regulating chemicals in food and limiting access to soda and processed foods through school lunches and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program"

Sounds good to me. But I'm sure Republicans will be up in arms about the restrictions on their kids freedom, just like they were when Michelle Obama was pushing something similar for school lunches, right?

Can we get a bill for free gym memberships?
