Resident Evil 3 Remake

I don’t think so. There’s been a decent amount of posters here who are excited about it which is why I’m surprised that’s it’s basically been two of us who played it.
RE2 was up there for game of the Year for me. Getting Doom and RE3 back to back is definitely gonna make these boring times better.

I never played the original RE2 or RE3 since I was still a Nintendo diehard. I never got the Gamecube remakes because I didn't want to play them with old graphics and controls after RE1 remake was already out. That said, I was super looking forward to RE2 and it ended up being my game of the year and probably my favorite RE.

I was hoping they would do a RE3 too but I was pretty shocked when they had a trailer and it was only months away. I guess they ended up making them both at the same time which is cool but I think it needed time to simmer. Even after a year, I don't know if I feel like I'm ready to jump back into another RE game. I'm still looking forward to it but it probably should have been spaced out another 2-3 years. Since the graphics are engine are the exact same, I have a feeling it's going to feel more like DLC or an expansion rather than a brand new game.

Assassin's Creed has the same problem where virtually every year, you get a new game. Those are 20+ hour games and it doesn't feel special when you get a new one every year and you are doing the exact same things again just in a different setting.

I'm glad Capcom made a come back but they should pace themselves a bit. Bring on Code Veronica but wait 3 years.
You are aware it's the same engine as RE7 and DMC5, right?

Developers are known to use the same engine for more than a decade, its nothing new. As for the graphics, REmake 2 might be the best looking game this gen, and this looks a step above.

Why not try the demo? As for the originals? Play them.
I was surprised by how much better it looked. RE 2 looked great but with RE3 there’s a very noticeable upgrade.

Replaying 2 to get ready for this and holy fuck I forgot how bullet spongy the zombies are. Body shots, fine. But 3, 4, 5 head shots? Give a fucking break.

Yeah, I gotta say, that doesn't make sense. They gotta give 'em a reason why they're still getting up with half a skull. "Because Zombies" doesn't cut it.

Yes it does.

It's been a while but didn't zombies in the old games always take like 5 or 6 handgun bullets to put down? Feel like that only changed when we got to Resident Evil 4.

Yes but you're not expected to really aim. The only headshots you can get are up close with the shotgun.

Nah. It's kind of bullshit. I don't mind if there's a reason for it, like the game just ramping up the difficulty, as they did with the "Thing" like shit they did in RE4. Just normal zombies though? Ehhh....not a fan of the head shots being ineffectual just because.

Sure it is. There’s tons of different rules for zombies across mediums. In Return of the Living Dead you can take them apart and they still “live.”

No reasoning behind it, that’s just their zombies.

True. Barry also shoots the first zombie you see in the game 3 times with a magnum before it goes down, so who knows how it works in Resident Evil lore? Lol

Yeah, but that was a comedy poking fun at zombie movie tropes.

I hear ya, but in game form, I'd like a bit of a reason for it. Otherwise, it feels a bit like cheap difficulty padding. I've actually never been a fan of the random damage threshold the enemies have in all of these game, so I might be a little biased. I like some form of rules in my games.

Demo is good. Game plays just as well as RE2 and even looks somewhat better. Fuckin intense too.

Not sure I’d look at it as padding, more it’s the only solution that really works. Only way to make one hit headshot kills viable and not completely break the game would be to either have the zombies move incredibly fast and/or have hordes of them coming at you at once.

Each zombie is now a threat and you have to make the decision whether or not to stagger them or invest the ammo to eliminate them completely. Gives an added level or resource management.

I couldn’t see it being a very good game if you were one shotting every zombie you came across. As it stands, just seems like they need a certain level of brain destruction before they die. I’m fine with that level of thought and moving on.

REmake 2 essentially made zombies an obstacle again - now you actually need to make a decision if you want to conserve ammo, try to dodge em or take a longer route, or do you try take em out. You can easily cripple em aswell by knee caping. Fantastic design imo, the game wouldnt work if the zombies were like other RE zombies where they go down in 1 headshot.

Fuck this is essentially what @Dizzy said.

As for the RE demo, I went back and apparently I missed a whole section where you could get a red dot sight from a safe. Damn and its all interconnected. Essentially like the RPD but "outside", such nice design here holy crap. Wanted to try and learn the dodging, I still suck at it lol. Might go back and practice on nemsis.
