I think this far too early to say right now. We got to wait until his career unfolds and than retires.

But interesting opinion / perspective coming from him.

Renowned MMA coach Firas Zahabi is convinced that Khamzat Chimaev is the greatest middleweight of all time.

‘Borz’ put together one of the most dominant performances in title fight history at UFC 319, logging more than 21 minutes of control time against ex-titleholder Dricus Du Plessis.

The fight itself left many fans frustrated with the lack of action, but for Zahabi, it was a performance befitting of a GOAT.

“Khamzat is the greatest middleweight ever,” Zahabi said via the Tristar Gym YouTube channel. “I could put him against anyone in the middleweight division, and I’d pick Khamzat any day. Adesanaya, DDP, Anderson Silva in his prime, forget about it. None of them can hold a candle to him.. He’s the Khabib of the middleweight division.”

This race to anoint the new guy as goat is getting out of hand. First it was Anderson, then Izzy, then “if DDP beats khamzat, he’s the mw goat”, now it’s khamzat. This goat obsession is getting ridiculous. The pattern here is that You’re always the goat until the next “it” guy comes along.

His point seems to be fictional matchups with all the best MWs in their prime, and that Khamzat would be a favorite in that scenario.
That doesn't mean that he's guaranteed to win against everyone.

That's not unreasonable, but to be the actual GOAT, he needs to rack up defenses.

It's absolutely way too early to tell. If he goes out and loses his next fight where does that leave his MW legacy? No where near as good as Anderson's or even Izzy's or DDP's when they started to take losses

I think Firas just got too excited in what he witnessed in that fight, He believes and assumes that Khamzat can beat any MW that ever existed in MMA. Therefore he thinks Khamzat deserves that honor of being the greatest in that weight class. When he forgot he has to execute and fight to prove that still. Still too much work has to still be done, until we can crown Khamzat the greatest MW.

Zahabi is extremely biased when it comes to Muslim fighters—truly biased. He will always root for them, consistently overpraise their performance, and try to make them appear far better than they actually are. Kamzat has potential, but calling him the greatest middleweight after only two fights is pure bias. A coach who has studied and taught MMA for more than two decades should know better than to judge a fighter with only 15 bouts. However, as mentioned, because he is biased toward Muslim fighters, his fanboy-religionism got the better of him, and he simply couldn’t restrain himself.

This definitely true. Also isn’t Firas forgetting the man who defeated Bisping for middleweight gold?

Surely the guy who trained the actual GOAT knows what he is talking about. I agree with him.

The term 'GOAT' is more worthless than hot dog branders and this right here is one of many examples why.

I mean he probably has the greatest wrestling ever at MW bar none. However his striking and BJJ defense+offense isn't proven yet. If Robocop recharged his cardio it would be an interesting fight. However he has a huge batch of contenders to run through to prove it. None really have the wrestling, but he's going to have a harder path than DDP as champ, because he'll probably not get Strickland and Izzy like DDP did.

I wasnt that impressed with Khamzat vs Dricus, besides Brunson, Dricus never really had the wrestling test and he looked terrible getting manhandled by Brunson. I thought Khamzats cardio would effect the fight more than it did but him manhandling Dricus said more about Dricus than Khamzat, to me. Khamzat barely scraped by a 3 week notice Usman at the end of his career coming up 15lbs and got his ass beat by Gilbert Burns. Let's see Khamzat vs Caio/Imavov and Reinier/Fluffy.

Also this MW era is weak as fuck. Is Khamzat running through the era that had TRTVitor, Jacare, Romero, Lyoto, Weidman, Rockhold, Mousasi, Kennedy etc.? I sorta doubt it. Anywyas let's see what the guy can do, hopefully he stays active.
