Exactly. I laugh at the pitter patter sparring sessions that happen sometimes. There are no "stylistic points" in fighting. People talk shit about HW's lack of skill, but even someone as talented and large as Jon Jones is scared of fighting them.

Right around 2010-2011 was Brock, Carwin, Cain, Ubereem, JDS, DC, Bigfoot, Werdum, Barnett, Rothwell, Hapa, dtc.

Stipe, DC, Francis, and Blaydes destroy everyone on that list. Gane, Rozenstruik, and even current JDS beat Sylvia easily. Mir too tbh.

Werdum was a top 10 HW in 2005/2006. I'd replace Goodridge with someone like Aleks or Vovchanchyn (if he wasnt at LHW by this point), the rankings obviously arent perfect since theyre computer generated. I also think the early 2010s era was pretty strong, certainly shits on the current HW division.

fedor-CC wasn't near as good as people make it out to be...and that was the pinnacle fight.

It was the pinnacle as far as the two top fighters fighting each other. That doesn't mean the fight has to entertain everyone.


1) it's not a pro wrestling match,they aren't doin moon saults To get oohs and aahs.

2) Stand up portion in first half of rd was incredible high level mma.

3) Fedor broke his hands,and Mirko was too tired and on his back couldn't threaten a guy as good as Fedor is at grappling,wether he had broken hands or not.

That at a certain point, sheer power and strength overcome nearly any amount of skill.

The limiting factor for all fighters really is their chin if you think about it. Anyone can be KOed, and power increases with size much faster than chin does. At a certain point, it really does seem that everyone could KO each other with jabs lol. Just look at Greg Hardy's last KO win haha.

This is why the lack of wrestling at HW always made sense to me. Imagine a HW version of Khabib trying to pressure like it's LW. They'd be getting KOed left and right.

When i wrestled I noticed how different the tiny guys wrestled compared to the hw size guys. Its simply natural to fight and grapple a different way depending on your size/size of opponent.
