Remember when frank mir said heavyweight sucks?

Ngannou would kill 99% of the roster and all he can do is throw a decent left uppercut. if HWs suck, what does that say about the rest of the UFC when 1 HW would destroy the entire company and his only really skill is throwing left punches?

And we are already at the point where absurd and baseless comments begin to fill the thread

Barely a thing to casuals like yourself.
UFC didn't even have the lightweight division in the mid-2000s let alone the 3 lighter men's divisions or WMMA. So yes, MMA was barely a thing back then.

NO ONE was saying this in mid 2000s

its only the new batch of scum casuals saying its always been shitty.

It has.

fedor-CC wasn't near as good as people make it out to be...and that was the pinnacle fight.

Nah. This is silly. If it was this easy, every mw and LHW would move up.

This just isnt true lol.

Tell me this isn't one of the most stacked top 15s of all time, in any division

Edit: 2005 likely looks even better, when guys like Hunt and Werdum came into the mix.

Manhoef ko'd Hunt, Hendo ko'd Fedor
Yes, two LHWs knocked out two short HWs.
You'd rather watch two unskilled fighters fight than smaller, skilled fighters. I guess you appreciate different things in "fighting" than virtually every fan I know.
Skills are fun and matter, same with personality, but not more important than size. Size matters, which is why there's weight classes. As it is, LW to me is the best division cause it possesses so many different things that encapsulate what make this sport fun while maintaining a respectable level of size, but I will always prefer a bigger skilled guy fight over a small guy fight and there's a point where I just stop caring and it begins quickly below LW. FW is the last stop. BW and FLW + WMMA is whatever. I just don't care.

Fighting is fundamentally about giant dudes smashing organs out of each other. In everything. Even in movies and pro wrestling. The further you steer away from that, the less people care. Not just me. You can try and compensate with some personality, a truly stacked division with heat all over the place, mega flashy skills, but only LW fits that description in UFC. Others are mainly work rate monkeys and I don't give a shit. Black Beast beats all of them.
then why do you watch MMA you fucking dolt. You can go see two unskilled polar bears go at it any time at the local bar.

I could have said you can see two unskilled polar bears go at it when you get home to your wife, but I have restraint.
Bars are closed and our bull can't make it to our house cause of the lockdown. Or maybe you meant just me and my wife in which cause - I can only really see my wife from my own perspective, so it's just one polar bear. Mirrors don't work, they get steamy. AC could undo it, but I don't like fucking in the cold... cause I'm not actually a polar bear.
You'd watch the polar bears fight because it's a novelty that doesn't get televisioned every week. I bet if there was a polar bear league you'd get bored and watch mma instead.
No.

No.

lol we are here to watch fights not fuck the fighters. That's when size really matters

That’s false, most big guys don’t play sports and the ones that do don’t make it as a professional. They just never wanted to or tried to fight
Most big guys don't play sports? I'll relay that information to NBA players and NFL Lineman and linebackers.

Definitely lol. First polar bear fight? awesome. 2nd? Way less awesome. 3rd? nobody is watching that third fight.

I’ve explained this to guys a hundred times but let’s make it 101.

99% of NCAA, including D1 athletes don’t play professional sports. That means hundreds, if not thousands of gigantic men who are freak athletes are leaving school and earning no paycheck playing sports every year. Why aren’t they fighting?

Being a D1 lineman who isn't good enough to go pro doesn't mean you are a great athlete. Lots of NCAA OL/DL are just fat guys

These guys also presumably have earned a degree and can earn a better living than being a cage fighter? Sort of common sense, yea? Only the top .0001% of MMA fighters make a decent living

D1 linemen and linebackers are absolutely freaks of nature.

Ok but this would apply to all weight classes and not just heavyweights so that doesn’t explain heavyweight mma lacking talent.

There are so few NFL players and NBA walking the earth that it’s kinda silly to insinuate those guys are extracting from the fighter talent pool. A large portion of those guys don’t have the will, desire or the ability to fight anyway

The truth is there are simply less large men, so there are less large professional fighters fighting at the highest level. It’s that simple and has nothing to do with pay or with athletes playing other sports. A large majority of those athletes wouldn’t be that good, Greg Hardy anyone?

TBH I’m surprised people still think this way

Thats a weak list lol. And Werdum wasn't in the mix until he upset Fedor in 2019.He had already washed out of the UFC.

Gary Goodridge in ths rankings...eeek.

Right around 2010-2011 was Brock, Carwin, Cain, Ubereem, JDS, DC, Bigfoot, Werdum, Barnett, Rothwell, Hapa, dtc.

Stipe, DC, Francis, and Blaydes destroy everyone on that list. Gane, Rozenstruik, and even current JDS beat Sylvia easily. Mir too tbh.
