Reddit just does whatever they think will be most profitable to their brand at this time. I'm noticing a lot of people saying they're going to unsubscribe from the premium service (god knows why you'd be subscribed in the first place), so hopefully that hits them in the pocket.

More than anything it's a move to please advertisers. The_donald subreddit had been quarantined ages ago and as far as I'm aware was barely active, in the past they kept it around before advertisers presumably pressured them into quarantining it. They kept it around because members spent a lot of money gilding each others posts and they made a lot of money from that.

Don't confuse Reddit with having political leanings, it will lean whichever way it feels is most profitable at the time.

I almost feel as if all of this is a ploy just to get the majority pissed. To wake the sleeping dragon that either doesn't care, isn't motivated enough, or are busy doing other things that they feel is more important.
