Reddit's New Content Policy: Hate Towards "Majority" Groups Permissable

No, people who use terms like "left vs. right" are referring to the mapping of generalized political beliefs on a linear east/west scale. This is tangibly defined. These political beliefs can be mapped using more complex grids, like the popular "political compass", but ultimately that's all one is doing; generalizing coordinates correlating to political philosophy. Labels like "liberal" and "conservative" are similarly labels corresponding to a set of generalized beliefs of a political character. "Democrat" and "Republican" are labels corresponding to actual political entities. Labels themselves are a tool people use to facilitate the discussion of more complex, abstract ideas using language-- which however fluid is ultimately a concrete object indicated by sounds and signs.

Grow up. A 13-year-old nitwit might find your hot take to be deep, but it's deep like Jack Handy.
Gotta protect the artificial divide at all costs

For a start it's contradictory,

Another issue is the vague use of the term "majority". It's obviously a reference to the majority demographic of North America, Europe, Australia etc but would a member of this "majority" be permitted to post hatred on reddit if they lived in Africa or Asia where they are a minority?

On a global scale this "majority" is actually a minority.
What a bunch of trash. Women are a majority over males, so their rule implies that women being disparaged as a whole do not receive protection.

You're wrong. No one can be 100 percent left or right. To much grey area in life. You can be right and agree with some left ideas, same with the left agreeing with some right.

Only a fool deals an absolute.
The labels are binary. The spectrum they describe isn't.

What is your intent in this thread? Are you voicing your stern condemnation of Reddit's policy? That would demonstrate the "grey area" you're discussing since-- as I'm familiar with you-- you're obviously a leftist. By all means, if that is your intent, I applaud you.

Let's hear it.

I'm not a left or right. I know you want to label people so bad.

Reddit is a private businesses so they can choose what the do with their platform. (That's a right idea)

Freedom of speech is important as long as you don't infringe your beliefs on others, or directly hurting people online verbally or physically.(just like sherdog implement in the war room) that's a left and right idea.

At the end both platforms of the "right and left " have their agendas . They love making one choose one or the other instead of trying to be close to center as possible.

Both have great and bad ideas.

I don't think you know how close to the center America really is? is that how you would describe your political beliefs?

That's not what I asked you.

Pony up. Are you willing to condemn this? Because right now you're justifying it. You're justifying uneven treatment of hate speech that extends to race itself. You're justifying racism.

I answered your question when I said as long as you're not verbally or physically trying to hurt people online.

So that means no I don't support them.

But you will have people say that it's their business and they can do what the want.

Just like the baker who refused service to a gay couple. Does he have the right to refuse service to them because it's not his belief?

I believe some of "both sides" the problem is that people become tribal and think their side is right.

No, it isn’t.
Correct. On reddit, we would get banned for HAVING the current conversion...Sherdog is very nicely balanced right now.

As long as you don't attack an individual user, or call for harm to people, and there is a way to ignore people you don't want to hear from, it's fair game in my eyes.

If you believe you're fighting for a just cause, and that you can make changes, or keep things the way they are, wouldn't you stand by and fight for your beliefs? It gives people hope. As long as society is in disarray we are at the mercy of our leaders.

Yes, but we all live here together, so we are going to compromise.

according to colorado, he didn't (and doesn't, since colorado did it again) have the right.
