Realistically, 2003-2008 Fedor is a better fighter than Jones

Fedor beat a fighter who's best win was against Jose Canseco.. talk about fighting cans.

One of Jones favorite fighters is Fedor. Jones even went to an M1 event just to meet Fedor and take pictures with him. MMA legends look up to Fedor including guys like Cain, JDS, and Aldo. It's only in the forums where posters discredit Fedor and his accomplishments but outside of that he is revered by almost everyone who follows MMA. Even Mike Tyson's favorite fighter is Fedor too. I just don't get the hate that Fedor gets when he is one the most humbled fighters to ever grace the sport. I don't mind if Jones is the GOAT of sport or will become the GOAT someday, but I just can't stand when people discredit Fedor just because he fought in a different era in MMA. Let's just leave it like this, Fedor HW GOAT, Jones LHW GOAT, so we can stop this silly argument and appreciate that we got to witness one dominant fighter and witnessing another one yet again.

Prime Fedor would annihilate Jones so bad. Fedor is the GOAT, period.
 
jones had slightly better comp imo. and i like fedor more than jones
 
comparing their fighting styles and skills ill favor fedor

furthermore once jones lose, it wouldnt even be a debate for jones blind huggers (like it was with anderson)
and everyone always forget - jj has a big advantage against his opponents (reach and size) while fedor didnt have any in most of his fights
 
Fedor was fighting cans mostly, give jones fedors opponents and he will rule the division for the next 20 years.

If you think the guy who fought Rogers and Hendon was remotely the same fighter who carried the PRIDE belt, then you can only be a hater or a troll.
Just look at pictures of the man from 2004 and 2009 and compare them physically. Next look at fights from the same periods and compare strategies. Both were total 180's.
 
That's nice. But 2003-2008 Fedor isn't going to get any better. His resume isn't going to improve.

Compare 2003-2008 Fedor to 2011-2016 Jones and we'll see who comes out on top.

Im a big fan of both fighters,but you cant really compare their careers. Theirs no real point to be made by doing so.

He didn't fight the top of the HW division. You can't compare the absolute peak of the LHW division (who's a HW in terms of size anyway) to mid-level HWs. Cormier absolutely breezed through lower-ranked LHWs until he got to Jones. He would've also lost to Cain, JDS and Werdum, probably been finished by them as they all have way more finishing power than Jones.

Fedor: 17 - 1 on a 13 fight win streak and the PRIDE Heavyweight Champion.

Jones top wins include Cormier, Machida, Gustafsson, Evans and Shogun.

Fedors top wins included Nogueria, Herring, Arona, Schilt and Babalu.

Jones is scheduled to fight the winner of Gustafsson/Johnson.

Fedor next fought Mark Coleman.

Fedor didn't lose a single round during that period.
Jones has lost what? 6-7 rounds? And arguably a fight against Gus too.
To make matters worse for Jones, Fedor was smaller, yet the one fighting at HW.
Jones will have to move to HW and dominate in order to surpass Fedor. It's really that simple. Prime for prime, Fedor has him beat so far.
