We're almost talking different sports here.
"Unified" fighting with elbows, cage grinding, 10-9 scores, and takedowns to steal a round, significant strikes, etc is very different to the full and more open (and more dangerous) fighting Fedor did in his prime back in PrideFC in the smaller/ 90degree angled ring.
It stands to reason Jones would dominate Fedor under Unified conditions in the wide open spaces of the cage... The guy has evolved his game to basically be a perfect specimen in the cage...
That being said, hypothetically if current Jones suddenly got transported back in time into the PrideFC cage with Pride rules/soccers/overall judging/etc say, Final Conflict in 2005 - IMO he would not beat Fedor, I doubt he'd beat Mirko then either. They were just perfectly adapted and honed to fighting to suit THOSE conditions (which were closer IMO and judging criteria aligned to a real 'fight').
The modern game has moved away from what it was in Pride.
Very very different. Very differnet era and pacing and strategy. The MMA game is a 'Unified' game now and Jones is basically the UFC (Unified) GOAT...
Fedor is the GOAT for MMA in a ring with full rules.
I reckon just leave it at that and move on.
