Prime JDS' streak was ungodly impressive

This may sound crazy but I think JDS should move to AKA. Their balls to the walls no tampons here style might suit him.

You could make the case that JDS is higher on the all-time HW list than Cain, even though Cain leads head to head 2-1.
JDS's long term record is more impressive.

He is not even close the fighter Cain is, and when they fought, Cain won 10 rounds and 2 dominating fights. If Cain loses his next fight, sure, but for now no.

The two Cain fights were bad. But don't forget the Stipe war. It was not two fights, it was not 10 rounds of damage. It was 15 rounds. He took as much damage if not more from Stipe as he did in each of the Cain fights.

Those three, not two fights changed the course of his whole career. He came out looking like himself against Stipe, remember.

Jds did not look anything like his self against stipe. He didn't even look at his best against Hunt. & I don't think stipe inflicted as much damage as Cain did in either fight. Although he did land a lot of good shots.

Im talking more about skillsets, Reems let down by his cardio and his chin. But how many other HW's have been as good as he is in all areas. Only really Werdum and Fedor come to mind. And the Werdum that JDS fought all those years ago was little more than a BJJ guy with rudimentary striking.

Reem is the most complete fighter out there, and he is great in at least two different things. Most complete fighters are just good on everything, but Reem is great.

Normally I'm the first to say that you shouldn't base your opinion in any way on how somebody comes off on TUF (or any reality show for that matter) but I have to say the season where he was a coach, he just seemed like the nicest guy in the world. If he was putting on an act he deserves an Oscar.

Struve, did you really put him on his record. Kongo was a better win.
Nelson isn't that good of a win, almost everyone beats him

Mir was in the worst shape when they fought.

I'd say that beating Lesnar, the same Bigfoot that wrecked Fedor and had a great fight with Hunt twice, JDS in a not close fight, Rothwell, Nog who got the belt a few fights before, and of course, as a fighter when you can't really compare these 2 because Cain is so much better, makes him better.

"Ungodly impressive " is just off and im calling em as i see em.Jds beat a non cordeiro trained werdum(which began his stardom)...He also clipped an injured Cain on Fox(a fight that cain couldn't withdraw from).Cain went on to validate this with his 2 follow up dominations of Jds.
Dos Santos is still one of the top heavies today and was for awhile.Thats about as far as i would take it which is ,still, saying alot.The labels that op is throwing at jds is not deserving in my honest opinion.

Carwin was 12-0 all 1st round finishes before Lesnar.

He had a very good career too, but apart from Mir and Gonzaga, he wasn't beating legends of the sport like JDS and Machida were doing.

As for who won rounds, that does not matter at all. What matters is who won a fight.
This is especially important to consider with non-wrestlers who tend not to win rounds under the Unified Rules, like JDS and Anderson Silva.
The other guy dominating or winning every moment is irrelevant if they win most of their fights in a 10 second sequence.

You are mistaken.
The "real" Cain sits around for years at a time while others guys have several fights.

His rise to the belt and claiming it is definitely a testament to his greatness in the division. I remember when the lead up to the fight between him and Cain was not only the most intriguing HW fight, but the most intriguing fight in all of the UFC at the time. I felt the same way about the first rematch.

I think those Cain rematches beat some fighting years out of him, and he's seemed to lose a step since then. It would be interesting to see him turn things around and go on another tear.

Struve is a way better win than kongo. It isn't even close tbh. Beating Werdum especially by KO is still impressive af. About as impressive as any win on Cain's record other than the JDS fights. Mir wasn't in the worst shape. He was coming off 3 wins & looked pretty good. Idk where you're getting that. Nelson is a good win. Especially the way JDS beat him. He was an even better win at the time. Lesnar was coming back from his sickness iirc & zombie nog is a good win but not an elite win. In short I still think JDS record is better by a good margin. & a side note, I still can't believe you said kongo was better than Struve. If I knew how to post gifs I would put the incredulous Cormier gif here.

I don't think stipe & hunt did some voo doo to make him appear slower/have slower hand speed. He looked slower & like his reflexes had declined considerably.

Wouldn't be surprised if some considered him GOAT after the Mir fight which he stuffed everything the HW grappling wiz attempted.

My second fav "jump off seat" KO after the Conor/aldo one, would have to be the first round lullaby Cigano put on Cain. Considering the monstrous aura that Cain carried at that time. Not to mention all the other domanant first round KOs against Werum, Yevel, Gonzaga, Struve. Cro cop was not prime but he was not as shot as people think if u see the 4 decent wins before and after JDS tapped him to strikes. And other than the win over Big country, who can fucking claim the right to retiring that the inhuman hands that dwarfed Brock's in Shane Carwin.

Don't know what happened after he switched coaches, or if his style has been figured out, but regardless off how he's doing lately, he's not a man to be taken lightly, and this is just a respect thread I just felt like posting
