Wouldn't be surprised if some considered him GOAT after the Mir fight which he stuffed everything the HW grappling wiz attempted.

The bold goliath was piercing through the roster like a light saber through year old cottage cheese.
My second fav "jump off seat" KO after the Conor/aldo one, would have to be the first round lullaby Cigano put on Cain. Considering the monstrous aura that Cain carried at that time. Not to mention all the other domanant first round KOs against Werum, Yevel, Gonzaga, Struve. Cro cop was not prime but he was not as shot as people think if u see the 4 decent wins before and after JDS tapped him to strikes. And other than the win over Big country, who can fucking claim the right to retiring that the inhuman hands that dwarfed Brock's in Shane Carwin.

Don't know what happened after he switched coaches, or if his style has been figured out, but regardless off how he's doing lately, he's not a man to be taken lightly, and this is just a respect thread I just felt like posting :)

There's a reason many (even most) people believed that he was gonna destroy Overeem. And that reason wasn't merely Overeem being chinny.

Oh yeah i miss that JDS. but Cain took his soul, that's the problem.

Impressive yes. Ungodly no

You could make the case that JDS is higher on the all-time HW list than Cain, even though Cain leads head to head 2-1.
JDS's long term record is more impressive.

It's a shame, he bottomed out quickly

The two Cain fights were bad. But don't forget the Stipe war. It was not two fights, it was not 10 rounds of damage. It was 15 rounds. He took as much damage if not more from Stipe as he did in each of the Cain fights.

Those three, not two fights changed the course of his whole career. He came out looking like himself against Stipe, remember.

That JDS run to the title is the most impressive in the history of the sport, and the only one that even comes close is Edgars current one if he beats Aldo

He switched gyms too after those fights and has looked different ever since, as i said in another thread yesterday, he fights like he's just trying not to lose, when in the past he'd want to steamroll his opponents. there might be something to it, the guy is different now and is like a Grade C version of himself.

You're right, that run was SCARY!

Pity that the gold ole' rematch culture forced him to fight Cain 3 times in the space of 3 years. Ruined him.

Fedor's run was ungodly, JDS's run was amazing.

Don't forget the Mark Hunt 3 rounder. He took a lot of damage in that fight as well. What a fucking warrior.

so your two favorite KO moments are both flukes... lol

There's taking damage and there's taking damage.

Some fighters take a beating, can hardly talk walk or think after a fight. Dossantos looked like he got hit by a car multiple times after the Cain fight. Yet in his post fight interview his improved English showed. He was clear and articulate and said the punches didn't do that much to him besides temporary optical damage. I believe him.

When someone loses a few he's always ''out of his prime'' and ''way slower'' and ''completely E grade version of his former self''. Expect a monster in there come sunday.

Since when is countering and KO' ing your opponent a fluke?

Mir vs Crocop was a fluke. Wild exchanges which could go both way are flukes. Those were accurate kills.

lol at fluke, I'd be embarrassed to spout such gay rubbish, but to each his own. Fluke example to me, is if the ref yelled something weird one fighter turns their head away distracted and gets clipped by the other guy.
and no, I specifically said they were my 2 favorite "jump-off-chair" KOs, purely in terms of shock value.

He has his wife back now. Hopefully he can regain some of that form, because for me, the fights with Cain damaged him mentally. They left some physical damage but no where near in correlation with the decline in his performances. I just really hope he comes out fast v Big Ben, rips him up to the body etc. War JDS!
