Prime JDS' streak was ungodly impressive

JDS had a great run. It's certainly not ungodly though.

That JDS run to the title is the most impressive in the history of the sport, and the only one that even comes close is Edgars current one if he beats Aldo
Edgar's run is not even as good as Conor's in his own division smh

He would've been on his way to HW GOAT and an insane streak if he got through Cain for the second time. But it went completely wrong for him and his career went downhill due to the amount of damage he took in those fights.

The best win streak in UFC heavyweight history.

Prime jds was scary as fuck. Like, he could have probably killed people in the octagon

It was all downhill after he tried to claim he could take on Wlad. Then u knew the guy was delusional. He then proceeded to get blown away by cain and Al

Had Reem fought JDS earlier, had DC stayed a HW and came to UFC, etc and his impressive run would never have been that impressive.

MMA reigns depend a lot on luck, opponents having days off, match making along with the skills and fighters heart And IQ.

JDS for a moment looked destined for elite status but how the maulings from Cain and the eventual knock out from Overeem have made him irrelevant all of a sudden

Most TUF noobs repeatedly said he has the best boxing in MMA history and he could be a boxing champ too

My favorite JDS moment was when he knocked the FUCK out of Werdum. I like Werdum, but god damn that uppercut....and then he smacks the back of his head like, "yea, sit the fuck down."

It was awesome.

In my opinion JDS's run was the most impressive string of wins ever witnessed in the history of the UFC Heavyweight division.

Yeah I suppose it would have been more dignified if he had gone out cold. The warrior went out on his shield and all that. Rather than get piledrived into the canvas from his own choke and finally having an excuse to curl up like a baby and have the ref save him after 50 straight minutes of brutality he was helpless to stop. When Velasquez licked up the blood he consumed JDS's soul.

Then after all those years of talking smack about Overeem and saying he was scared of him etc. he got a striking clinic put on him, backed up grinning with embarrassment when he had him trapped on the cage and got his lights put out. If I were a JDS fan I would probably be bitter too.
Nothing in the first paragraph happened. He didn't curl up, he was literally getting up while the ref stopped it. The second paragraph did happen, but u ended it ina weird way, why would someone getting outstruck by a former k1 champ make u bitter. Regardless, idk why u were arguing, those weren't KOs, they were TKOs like I've already told u, yet ur replying all emotional and shit about god knows what.

Struve is a way better win than kongo. It isn't even close tbh. Beating Werdum especially by KO is still impressive af. About as impressive as any win on Cain's record other than the JDS fights. Mir wasn't in the worst shape. He was coming off 3 wins & looked pretty good. Idk where you're getting that. Nelson is a good win. Especially the way JDS beat him. He was an even better win at the time. Lesnar was coming back from his sickness iirc & zombie nog is a good win but not an elite win. In short I still think JDS record is better by a good margin. & a side note, I still can't believe you said kongo was better than Struve. If I knew how to post gifs I would put the incredulous Cormier gif here.

When Cain beat Kongo he was a good win. When JDS beat Struve who was him. Struve was like 20 too. Beating Werdum back then isn't that impressive because of how bad Werdum used to be on the feet, it is just a good win, but a very great match up for him. Lesnar was in the best shape for the Cain fight, he didn't look as deflated as he did for Reem and Carwin in the Cain fight. Mir was coming off a fight he almost lost to Nog, and the other 2 was very boring. He is in terrible shape, check the weigh ins, looked like he did against Arlovski.

"had a great fight with Hunt"? JDS beat prime streak Hunt with flashy spinning shit KO. Also, majority draw was BS, Hunt was robbed though it was close. Moreover, that Bigfoot is not the same that faught Fedor, by the first fight they already took away had taken his medical testosterone privileges.
Kongo and Nelson are equal to me, though I'd bet 3 times out of 3 Country would ko him again.
Sure Werdum didn't have as good striking as now, not even close, but he was coming off back to back KO wins over Vera and Gonzaga

He was. They took it when they took it from Vitor and everyone else. The one who beat Fedor last fight was Hunt, so he fought Cormier and Cain. In the 2 Cain fights he was able to only hit Cain once, this was much more impressive win than Hunt. Yeah I gave the fight to Hunt when they fought, but it was close and anyone could win.
I find Rothwell and Kongo to be better wins than Nelson and Struve.

JDS looked like he was on his way to being a future GOAT contender. His resume far outweighed Cain's in my eyes even after his first loss to him. Sad to see how far he has fallen and how little he has evolved. People blame the damage he took from Cain for his downfall but I blame his training and his willingness to learn.

JDS is a hell of a boxer but with poor defense and not much else. Great fighters try to get better and eliminate their weaknesses. JDS just keeps training boxing and doesn't show anything new in any of this fights. I'd love to see him go in there against Rothwell and show off some ground or clinch work but instead, you'll see him stand box, get hit a lot and either finish or get finished.

Said it before and I'll say it again: Cain ruined him as a fighter.

Amazing how he took punches from Yvel and Carwin like it was nothing.

People say Cain ruined him as a fighter, but that's really not true. He looked the same as ever vs Hunt, better even, he finally had a gas tank to sustain his style. Injuries ruined Junior. After Cain and Miocic, he's been injured for years at a time. His shoulders, his knees, both of which were crucial for him. He also got older, lost the spring that he had. The only thing Cain did was expose the blueprint to beat him, Overeem didn't follow it, he showed a different one.

You could make the case that JDS is higher on the all-time HW list than Cain, even though Cain leads head to head 2-1.
JDS's long term record is more impressive.

He's unquestionably higher up than Cain, Cain's resume is toilet, Junior cleared out the division prior to fighting for the title. Then he KO'd Cain, THEN he KO'd Mir.

I'm surprised JDS got passed over for Cain for the title shot against Brock. Cain best wins pre Nog was Kongo/Rothwell. When JDS has wins over Werdum/Cro Cop/Gonzaga before fighting Nelson at 117. JDS run to the title has a higher quality compared to Cain's win streak to the title.
