One dominated the HW division in its prime
The other is on a 2-defense streak of the same guys in the HW division but 10 years older

I like Stipe but unless you swallow some BS about "new breed cuz UFC said so" we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves here
Same guys????

When did Fedor ever beat Werdum? Who, by the way, happens better now than he was when he beat Fedor. When did he ever fight alistair?

Come on, Stipe's resume is already better and his skills speak for themselves. He's too much for Fedor standing or on the mat.

Miocic has no defense standing and a crackable chin. To say Fedor would have no chance standing, when he beat Cro Cop up on the feet, is ludicrous.
Stipe's defense is great, everyone gets cracked. His footwork for the division is the first of its kind, guys never even get off on him anymore except for the clever trap that Overeem set. I didn't say he had no chance because the punchers chance always exists, but Stipe would almost certainly make it look easy standing up

His defense sucks and he isn't anywhere nearly as naturally fast as Fedor was in his prime. He's a plodding go-forward puncher.

If he catches a fast one from Ngannou and goes down in the first round Ngannou will be the next annointed HW GOAT, just like Stipe was, and Werdum before him, and Velasquez before him. UFC for years have been trying to usurp Fedor's legacy by any means necessary even though HW is a boneyard.

To call him a plodding puncher is absolutely disrespectful and objectively wrong. He makes legendary strikers like Overeem, who fedor was able to avoid, look completely silly. He cuts off the cage like a professional boxer, he stalks and walks down his opponents using angles, taking away their offense and finishes them.

He got dropped on his ass by the first clean shot Overeem landed, and then Overeem brainfarted, as he is wanton to do, and fell over himself because he was scared to death of exchanging, even though in the first exchange of the fight he knocked Stipe into a heap. In a rematch Overeem could probably adjust and do better.

Lmao stipe out struck Overeem 3-1 on the feet, Overeem was completely outclassed. Fair play on the PLANNED trap he set to catch Stipe, it was nice. It landed. Still wasn't enough.

Let's not forget the textbook, and I mean perfect, textbook guillotine defense and pass to half guard.

Also, Overeem didn't trip, Stipe caught a kick. That's because, again, Overeem had absolutely nothing for Stipe and completely refused to exchange with him.

Fedors best win is Nog.

Nog came to the UFC on a 8-1 streak with wins over Werdum and Barnnet and took out Silva.

We needed Prime Nog to beat Mir.

Sadly he failed.

Now we get posts like this that will never be answered .

Prime Nog would also best Stipe.

This is going to get me hated, but I go with Stipe.

Fedor has power, crazy speed, and godly subs. That said, Stipe has the wrestling to keep it standing, a crazy pace that left Overeem running scared, enough power to KO anyone on earth with a short right hand, and god-tier gameplanning.

I don't think he'd go to the ground with Fedor. This is how I think it plays on the feet:

- Fedor goes for his trademark blitz. Stipe survives (remember, he walked through shots from Hunt). There is a chance Fedor wins via KO here, but I think it's more likely Stipe survives via not being an idiot like Zulu and Timmeh.
- Stipe walks Fedor down, landing shots with his superior boxing. Fedor lands shots too, especially kicks which Stipe hates, but Stipe is landing more and with more accuracy.
- Frustrated, Fedor goes for a throw, but Stipe stays standing and responds with accurate punches.
- Since I personally don't see Stipe wanting to take the fight to the ground, I see Stipe being cautious and not looking for a finish unless he smells blood. It'll probably end with a UD for Stipe, but I can definitely see Stipe going for a finish in the later rounds when Fedor is tired and less powerful.

IF Stipe decides to wrestle also then he'll focus on position over everything else since he won't want to risk getting subbed. I think he has the size and the smarts (MOST important asset when discussing Stipe and his team) to lay n pray Fedor if he wanted to, but I don't believe he'll want to do that for a long time (As in, he won't want to do a GnP fest like in the Hunt fight). Maybe a takedown here or there to more securely win rounds.

Feel free to break my post apart. I just don't see Fedor having the advantage anywhere except subs and I don't see him taking Stipe down.
