Two classic films imo and two of the biggest actresses of that time. Both rated 7.1 on IMDB.

Lets see how the votes will be.

Pretty Woman - Plot Summary:

Having recently broken up, Edward Lewis, a successful out-of-town corporate raider and elegant bachelor with an impeccable sense of style, borrows his lawyer's silver 1990 Lotus Esprit SE, only to get lost on bustling Hollywood Boulevard.

Looking for directions, Lewis has a chance encounter with beautiful Vivian Ward, a statuesque streetwalker with a heart of gold; and, as one thing leads to another, a mutually beneficial voluntary association commences.

Now, to escort suave Edward for an entire week, gawky diamond-in-the-rough Vivian must endure a complete makeover; but, as personal secrets come to light, something starts to change. Both Vivian and Edward have already had their share of unhappiness and hurt, and they also come from different worlds. Is Vivian willing to break her rules and give love a second chance?

Ghost - Plot Summary:

Even though Sam Wheat, the successful investment counsellor, still finds it difficult to express his deeper feelings for her after all these years, his young potter girlfriend, Molly Jensen, is the love of his life.

However, a curious case of a systematic discrepancy will prepare the ground for a hideous urban homicide in one of Manhattan's dark alleys, trapping, seemingly forever, the unfortunate deceased's immortal soul in the realm of the mortals.

With the condemned spirit unable to interact with the physical world--and as Molly's life, too, is in grave danger--Sam will have to turn to the spiritual medium, Oda Mae Brown, to warn and protect her. Can Oda and the ghost settle the unfinished business in time?

Ghost is actually a good movie. It introduced me to The Righteous Bros, short-haired Demi Moore (her S-tier form), Vincent Schiavelli AKA former Knickerbocker/Rocket head coach Jeff Van Gundy.

It was nominated for the Best Picture, I believe. Plus Moore before disfiguring herself absolutely curb-stomps Julia "Horseface" Roberts.

Huge Demi fan back then. Probably my biggest celebrity crush of all time. But the short hair, and the fact that Whoopi Stank Ass Goldberg was in it.....while Pretty Woman had a Lotus, George Costanza, Hector Elizondo, and the hottest version of Julia Roberts, I am going Pretty Woman.

It's not.
It's sexual freedom/promiscuity propaganda. And a huge part of the feminist movement.
Ehhhh.

I think a lot of people over react to Pretty Woman.

Both men and women share a very common line in our most base fantasy.

That is that we can be our sluttiest self, in our youth... prioritize nothing but money making and hedonism, without consequences and then not be judged or forced to wear a Scarlett letter, when we eventually turn the corner and want to marry and have a family.

Males have had more paths to live their sluttiest lives (See George Clooney, Wilt Chamberlain, Entourage TV show, etc) while maintaining a more positive image and making lots of money whereas women, historically have had very few.

So i disagree it is a propaganda movie as much as it is a superficial look (like Entourage) at very base human nature, at a point in time.

This answer often enrages a certain segment of men who have a visceral reaction to the idea of a promiscuous women while that same group often celebrates and admires the Entourage parallel, in men.

Ghost was a much better film, and Julia Roberts used a body double when there wasn't even any nudity. Decision made.

Hollywood is all propaganda.

Keep doing you, and I'll wear my tinfoil hat.

An average looking woman is up there with an A list celebrity male regarding her ability to sleep with the opposition sex, usually it's frowned upon to do things that are considered easy for each sex to do, women find it very easy to sleep with men and that's an advantage and men are usually stronger and more capable of fighting......

An average woman could easily sleep with 5 men in an evening and an average man could easily beat up 5 women in a night, they're both bad things to do...... And not very impressive......

What triggers me is it's often praised as a good love story, which it is not.

I am confused by two elements of your post.

1 - are you saying it is "usually frowned upon for celebrity males, rich males, to sleep with multiple women'? Because i think those celebrity and/or rich guys are typically celebrated as Playboys, despite it being 'easy to do'.

2 - are you saying it is not wrong for an average man to sleep around with large numbers of womens (I know many guys like that from my years in sports) because it is 'hard to do' but it is wrong for women to do so because it is 'easy to do'?

Agreed. It should not be looked at that way.

It is far more along the lines of the Entourage show and the elements of what most guys who liked the show really liked ....but the female version.

A story where you can live a life being absolutely hedonistic, make a ton of most stupid and self destructive mistakes, but always end up better off in the end and being able to switch and live a normal life when you choose to.

It's pretty easy, there's very few women that can beat men up and there's very few men that could match an average women if they played a game of who can have sex with the most amount of the opposite sex, in that regard there's also the physical limitations of each sex to this end as well......

Society usually rewards people that achieve difficult tasks...... And to each sex you could say that..... I mean you don't need a badge and a pat on head for taking a shit now do you??

NO.

Address my point.

it is very easy for celebrity and/or rich males to sleep with multiple women.

it is also not that hard for average dudes who have any game (like my sports bro's over the years) to do so, if they are not that picky and willing to go with any taker.

By your own post above that then fits in the frowned up and not celebrated area narrative you are trying to substantiate.

Do you now retract that or are you standing by it?
