Official Women's Division Discussion #26

Status
Not open for further replies.
Kaitlin Young had asked about who had the most fights of all time in the women's divisions - so I did a little research.

Satoko Shinashi and Megumi Yabushita share that distinction with 42. (I know a lot of Shinashi's opponents were tomato cans). The second among the actives is none other that Roxanne Modafferi with 37.

Here is the top 50. I suspect I may be missing one or two - tapology's lists seems to be off.

Where is Baszler?

I knew even before looking at the list that Yabushita would be #1; she continued to fight long after she should have stopped.

I just wrote (well...it was a week or so ago) about how talks about the WMMA GOAT had to include women with 20+ wins, as that was kind of still a rare thing. This list confirms my suspicions.

Jarl

P.S. Above list seems to be missing Yuka Tsuji and Miku Matsumoto

First there's no really wmma goat, divsions, and sport is pretty undeveloped (135 lbs division is just 15 fighters...)
There's chance Amanda Nunes and few other very good fighters won't win 20 fights in mma (she will be 31 years old very soon).
I think sportwise (numbers of competitors, tradition of sport, whole process of winning world title) Holm in boxing, Dern in BJJ, Jedrzejczyk, Shevchenko in kickboxing, muay thai, Ronda Rousey, Kayla Harrison in judo did a lot more than in UFC and wmma. Yeah winning belt in UFC is big thing (still), but I think that wmma is still freakish many times.
I still think that Ronda's bronze olympic medal (sportwise) > her 6 UFC belts, same about other girls, I think they bringing some prestige and legitimacy to mma, not mma to them.
Some female combat sports really evolved last few years.
Yeah it was great when Ronda won 6 belts, but winning bronze medal in combat sport with longest olympic tradition (for females) like judo is more than some silly UFC belts.
Female boxing also has more competitors than mma, bjj probably too, judo for sure.let's not even talk about muay thai, even few years ago they got few thousands female fighers around world and numbers are growing, also all these sports are perceived as more "honourable", because let's be honest mma sometimes can be trashy.
Good for all these girls that there is chance to make some money, but that's it imo.

Not sure how Lipski's move from KSW to UFC will affect her, hope she wins though, the game needs to move on. I'm taking Rachael to beat Paige, but we'll see.

Lipski trains with Cyborg.
Valentina trains with Cyborg.

No no no, please don't tell me that these two are in the same team and aren't going to fight....
One video of them hitting the mitts together does not mean they train together. Same with Rose and Valentina. That was one fight camp. The Shevchenkos are vagabonds. They never stay in one place for long.

I'm convinced the Shevchenko camp is totally a sleeper cell, and the Shevchenkos are spies. The only mystery is who they're aligned with. haha.

given her eagerness for the 'murican redneck lifestyle (cowboy hats and plaid shirts, huntin' and fishin' and (especially) shootin') Agent Val could get Maria Butina'd at any moment

Jennifer Maia has been hit with a six month suspension from USADA.

tested positive for 3 diuretics, but a supplement was found to be responsible

https://ufc.usada.org/jennifer-maia-accepts-doping-sanction/

On one hand, this is yet another athlete newly signed failing one of their first tests which again shows the education they are giving athletes when they join is simply not good enough.

this is the supplement causing the positive

Dw-KlMBX4AMPfqY

Dw-KlMUXQAEK3e6

contained furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, chlorothiazide

Looks innocent enough to some, but, no recognisable brand, its exactly the sort of thing that they ARE MEANT TO BE advised to avoid.

its frustrating, if she had sent me a photo before taking it I could have told her it had diuretics in it (im actually amazed it didnt contain ostarine)

I was wondering why she had so much time since her last fight without another one coming up. Why would they use any supplements at all. DJ is one of the bests and never took any supplements.

As for how fighters keep making dumb mistakes, I think there is a good chance they don't actually read and watch the documents/videos that USADA gives them. I remember when Andrea Lee was signed she showed just how much material they have to read and watch and it was a ridiculous amount. I would not be surprised if most fighters did what Jon Jones did and never watched or read any of it. Jon also took it another step forward and had his manager forge his name on the form that stated he watched and read the material.

the videos are each quarter when you log on to file your wherabouts, and you have no choice. it wont actually let you proceed to the next page until the video has been watched in its entirety

youd have to be pretty dumb to leave the room while the video is on

the reading stuff, really doesnt take long to just read it of an evening, its your career on the line. they need to realise that.

Quick, someone make a 'Maia tests positive!!' troll thread in the heavies

If the 6 months is retroactive back to August of last year when the infraction took
place Jennifer Maia will be able to start taking fights February 1st.

1st March

suspension starts 31/8 ends 28/2

she does get the benefit of 3 days less because of February being a short month
