Ok I was completely wrong and the game is easy. I'm 3 bosses in now.

Yeah it's super easy. The first boss took me like 20 attempts and since then I've killed most bosses on the first try.

I'm enjoying the game overall but that is definitely a flaw. Also means all the items, spells etc. don't matter that much since you kill every boss by just hitting a few easy parries.

Yeah I'm noticing the magic is severely lacking in efficacy. I have spells from each tree equipped and they don't do shit. Literally all you have to do is block regular attacks and parry the critical blows and you win.

I would recommend doing the Lu Bu fight solo. You'll miss a great boss with people helping you. Really fun and by far the most challenging one yet.

Does it feel like its Nioh in a different setting?

I loved both Nioh games, i put an undecent amount of hours into them.

being a Nioh clone would not really stop me, but i'm wondering if its actually different

It shares some DNA with Nioh. The loot system for example is very similar. Wo Long also seems to share some of the same weapon animations and the same goes with the level / map design. The big difference is the Ki Pulse system vs the Spirit Gauge system. Both require timing to be proficient but one favors a parry / dodge while the other favors the timing of the pulse. I'm mixed on which system I like more and although I think Wo Long pushed for a more aggressive play with the spirit gauge, I think the Ki Pulse is actually more aggressive as it lets you extend combos and you don't need to wait for a parry window.

Can you dismiss the followers that automatically come along in the levels?

Ok the fourth boss is a :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:. Magic spamming teleporting piece of shit with no parryable attacks

I think there's a tree branch item that dismisses them. The only other way I know how to get rid of them is to basically let them die. But once you rest they come back. And you'll need all of your pots for Lu Bu so getting in fights to get them killed while still keeping pots will prove difficult.

Are you guys counting the tutorial as a stage? People are saying I’m on such and such stage but it’s confusing because it’s not matching my description of the boss encounters there. I didn’t include the tutorial level as a main stage. For me the chapter 2 end boss was the toughest which was stage 5 I believe.

On the top center of the screen when you switch battlefields it lists which chapter you're in. The one called part 1 serves as a tutorial. Its the level that has a high level tiger in it and its much shorter than the others. Edit: I guess it does count as a real stage considering it says main battlefield. It’s still a lot shorter and it’s the stage that gives you a bunch of pop up messages

I thought the second half of the last stage of part 3 pretty difficult. It is easier than Nioh but like with those games I imagine the real difficulty will come post game and also in the DLC.

I actually didn’t have a follower that entire level. Got to fight him and have to agree, it was pretty fantastic. Took me a good amount of tries because he’s so punishing but it never felt cheap and I definitely came away a better player.

I just can't figure out the timing with this first boss's major attacks. I think coming straight from Sekiro is messing me up
