Hard to say. Sekiro and Wo Long share the most DNA. I think Sekiro’s combat is the most punishing but probably the best implemented out of all of them. There’s no grinding levels or anything in Sekiro so it’s really you and your skill. It’s super crisp and responsive. One of my favorites.

Wo Long relies a lot on parrying as well but so far I’d put it a solid tier below Sekiro. It’s tough but I feel like there are more ways to overcome the challenge. Setting is pretty cool though and a decent change up.

Ghosts of Tsushima is an open world action oriented game. I’ve been told it’s similar to newer Assassin’s Creed titles. Not as tough as the previous games but I thought the story was engaging, the combat was good enough, and I loved just exploring the world on horseback. It’s a really beautiful world.

Sekiro and GoT are both pretty cheap by now so maybe take a shot at one of those. Like I said, hard to say without knowing your gaming preferences.

I liked the old Dynasty Warrior games and the battlefield combat and I'm pretty familiar with the mythology of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Elden Ring is the only souls game I've played.

Beat it to platinum but I cheesed the whole way with a katana bleed build to NG+7 and never really learned to parry. From what I've seen Sekiro might be a rude awakening with my parry skills in mind.

You might really enjoy this then. Don’t get me wrong, parrying is a heavy, key mechanic of this game. I just feel like it’s a bit more forgiving than Sekiro. The story is lacking imo but you might enjoy it with some prior knowledge.

Ghosts is a lot more laid back. Challenge is there if you want it but I think its combat is second to the exploration element.

This is my guy currently. Will need to look for complete armor sets as I continue on for the buffs.

Did you...even do the samurai duels? Not that they were challenging for a God gamer such as myself. But I could see others struggling with the parrying.

In Ghosts? Yeah they weren’t too bad. A couple were pricks but I thought they were fun challenges.

To the Wo Long players out here, if someone had never played Sekiro, Ghosts of Tsushima, or Wo Long which one would you recommend doing first?

Even though it kicked my ass and tapped me out, I'd recommend "Sekiro" over "Wo Long". It's just a tighter game. Don't know about GOT, but I've heard it's more of an approachable and traditional action game for most, and isn't focused on crushing your soul as much.

Awesome, there’s a gank squad on a tiny cramped map.

That was terrible, got through it with zero flasks but did it. This game is just not well suited for multiple enemies, much less three mini-bosses at once. One is constantly chasing you down, another is constantly chucking fire bombs at you, and the other is either bull rushing you or taking potshots with his bow.

Trying out the demo from steam, hopefully some of the pc issues got patched.

I thought the second half of the last stage of part 3 pretty difficult. It is easier than Nioh but like with those games I imagine the real difficulty will come post game and also in the DLC.

Yeah it definitely gets harder around that point.

I just beat the first Part 4 boss and that guy took me like 2 hours. From what I've heard he seems to be the hardest one though.

That was a really fun fight with real Sekiro vibes. I wish more of the boss fights were a little longer and tougher.

My favorite is when enemies from off screen decide to do a critical blow for 3/4 of your health and you couldn't see it to parry it. Also target swapping is dog shit. I usually kite enemies with the bow now.

I was kind of interested in this game but I trust @Dizzy on this. I remember playing Nioh 2 and while some of the challenges were welcome and rewarding, I was just not having fun with it at one point and I dropped it.

There's a fine line between a game being challenging and torture. In recent memory Metroid Dread had the perfect balance.

Lol tbf it’s a completely optional side mission that you can ignore. It just pissed me off so I felt compelled to finish it.

The game wasn’t too bad up until this point and from what I’ve seen this was by far one of the worst missions. Outside of that I’ve been enjoying my time with it a lot.

Ok.. so answer this

Is it Doom Eternal Hard or Nioh 2 Hard?

I think Eternal is incredibly well balanced whereas the Team Ninja games tend to have random huge difficulty spikes like this so I’d say Nioh 2.

After trying the steam demo, I'm going to wait a month for more pc optimization.

Control didn't feel great with keyboard and mouse, wasn't able to remap keybinds (maybe that's just the demo) and the demo is crashing.

I haven't gotten there but I've been in similar situations. The game doesn't really play nicely when it's 3 on 1, especially enemies with more damage and larger health pools. To help mitigate that a bit, Ninja could have given us the ability to cancel our weapon arts. Instead, they go through the whole 5 seconds and you often get sniped out of it.

Curious to know what you think. It’s the last sub mission in episode 4. They’re three full on mini-bosses.

I had zero time to even really think about weapon arts. I just ended up having to use the terrain to LOS them and hope no more than one came chasing me. The only real opportunity to do anything were parries and getting some iframes off of a stunned attack. Just awful.
