Any word on WPN durability in this? I hope they learned their lesson from DSIII and just scrap the property. Durability in DSII was overdone, IMO, rendering even some classes and otherwise good WPNs ill-used – looking at you, katanas, and anything with an elementally-imbued heavy. ER has been in development long enough to where I wonder what inroads feature creep has made over time on ER core mechanics, baseline play. *returns to racecar bed for daily edging

yeah hopefully they remove that mecanic.

weapon durability is usually annoying, i've never really played a game where i enjoyed it.

Here here. I get they want to encourage people into using the different weapons their team spent countless hours on making, but it kills the pace of the game

I can't tell you how much BS I had to deal with to get, and be able to wield, both smelter swords in DS2. The durability is so painfully low, it makes them almost pointless to use. One didn't even make it to the end of this short boss fight, or just barely lol (edit)

Yeah, it proved rather ridiculous in practice however well-intentioned the theory behind it was. I can tell from your UI indicators that you were not bracing knuckles for the encounter but always giving up a finger for as much can be woefully unfun so I get it. Nice power-stancing, of course; UGS 2x doesn't come lightly. /craftsman's hammerer out

I remember aggressively pursuing a build to duel wield and power stance the smelter swords and thinking “hell yeah. This is going to be great” and then the first time I do the strong L2-R2 attack and seeing like 1/8th of their durability disappear from a single strike

I'm pretty sure I had the brass knucks on, but I dont know what to look for in tje hud.

If not here, then definitely at some point. Regardless, It did little to make those smelters worth it considering the carrying weight. They're so fucking cool though. I guess the fun was just the journey :D

One of my fav things in DS2 is the power stance. Activating it makes you feel like you powered up in Altered Beast. I rarely used a Shield, so double wielding was great fun.

Edited about 5 times* I hate typing on my phone. How do you guys share gifs/pics from your phones btw? I try to copy the link, eitjer copying to clipboard when trying to share it, or holding down on the picture to select "copy image", but it never gives me the proper url to embed. Media is no problem though.

Lol, I was so disappointed too. At least we can easily respec, but I was looking forward to doing another NG run with just them and my jedi-like outfit

Dark Souls II pisses me off almost as much as Diablo III

Looks like an Uchigatana as well. Plus that knight armor looks a bit like Anri's.
Nice comparison of Anri's garb as the blue is a delicate standout, certainly. I'm getting Logan vibes from fatty's helm piece and Dragonrider set otherwise (DSII). Leftmost is confirmation of a katana WPN class, I imagine – Washing Pole, IMO – as he looks in full Samurai kit whereas before I'd associate this style of fighter with From sets Eastern and Shadow.

While a hurt to fashionsouls but deepener of playstyles, thoughts on set bonuses being introduced in ER? Torn myself but think on bonuses that draw deeply on set origin or NPC lore... I've long thought as much so cool. Patches' gear could extend iframes or augment DMG to divine beings/Faith players, Anri's set increases luck parameter for drop chance/quality, Vinheim set could decrease AI aggro range (recall Griggs, Rickert, Orbeck were all assassins across DSI/III, having been despatched in secret from their kingdom/lands), Catarina set could allow for poise buff during every third ATK animation as characterised by the stalwart Siegmeyer et cetera.

Nothing crazy but news as of some hours ago from an interview originally given in Japanese by From:

Elden Ring is in the 'Final Stages of Development'

FromSoftware's Yasuhiro Kitao in a recent interview with Famitsu and translated by Reddit discussed the upcoming game, Elden Ring. The team is [o]n track for its January release as the game is in the final stages of development.

"We're in the final stages of development, and we're moving forward quietly," said Kitao.

Kitao was asked about what kind of game Elden Ring and he said it is a "culmination of FromSoftware's expertise in dark fantasy action. You can enjoy the high level of difficulty and the sense of accomplishment of overcoming it, the joy of discovering the unknown, and the creation of the world setting."

"You can explore the open field and seamlessly visit small to medium-sized dungeons within it," he added when asked about the features of the game. "There are several types of dungeons to explore, such as catacombs and auditoriums. At the end of the world, we have what we call 'legacy dungeons', which are huge castle-like dungeons like the ones in previous titles."

Elden Ring will launch for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 21, 2022.

Question for PC players. Im new to PC gaming and have only played FPS with mouse and keyboard. Planning on getting Elden Ring for PC, but will play with a controller. can I use a PS5 controller or is an Xbox controller recommended? does the game system typically recognize what type of controller Im using and suggest the button commands in relation to that controller in the game's UI?

I think a related question should be if PC registers all Sony-signature haptic and adaptive-trigger feedback because all of the above has been integral to current-gen immersion, IMO. You can nock arrows and without loosing, both feel and hear the arrowhead and shaft clatter as it rests against the bow on the PS5. I know titles vary but in general, the DualSense is incredible tech when used to the fullest.
