I

I registered twice. doubt Ill get it, but might as well. Theyre prohibiting people from recording it(worrying)
and its not on PC.
Makes sense, it a test and will probably have bugs. Its not gonna be on PC cause Data miners will probably spoil everything in the game.

Can't say I'm really that surprised considering it's From's most ambitious game. However, Elden Ring releasing exactly a week after HFW is an interesting choice.
Bad business, IMO. February is looking like UFC 100 at this point and PS exclusives hit like Hendo's overhand right.

I kind of disagree. Its easily the most hyped game of those releasing in February, and its multiplatform. Its more likely that other games will move out of ER's way than the other way round. With that said, they dont even have the same target audience aswell so it would be fine.

It could defiantly be a bad business decision. It's the same reason UFC and Boxing don't share their big events on the same night even though they're two relatively similar but different sports. Although ER and HFW may have different audiences, I'd be willing to bet the majority will end up playing both. There's a lack of AAA's out for the PS5 right now and Demon Souls helped usher in new fans to the series. It just seems like a really bad idea to put them so close together. On the other hand, From is partly owned by Sony, so I would assume they would have ran the numbers prior to picking this date out.

I agree I think the audience is different. Sure there is some overlap but I think From will be fine. At worst they have a slow start but I think eventually it will sell just as well if not better than all their other games.

Honestly I think theyre using this as a placeholder date and will delay it again.

I have colleagues in Japan who have told me their lockdown is insane, they have "quarantine bubbles" in each district making it difficult to work.

Also, the fact that they dont want anyone to see the network test because "The game is a work in progress" makes me think they have a lot to do. They said that they underestimated the amount of freedom, depth, and mechanics in the game as being the reason why theyre delaying.

There might be about 100+ weapons in the game, and on top of that, tons of weapon arts that can be equipped to each of those weapons.. that is going to take a lot of time to balance.

The UFC has been placing its events on the same day as big boxing events. Its not been shy to compete and often beat the big Canelo cards etc. I dont think HZD will cannibalise ER and vice versa, ER has huge hype and is multiplatform but the last new IP From made sold 5 million and HZD sold double that in 2 years. These From games arent as big as the Sony IPs, and arent its competition anyways. Small overlap sure but not enough to make a huge difference in the overall numbers. I dont think theyll move the date, if anything I think Sony will move HZD since theyll want to maximise sales and not be cannibalised by the smaller titles.

Pretty much. If it sells as much as Dark Souls 3, then thats a win since thats the conclusion to From biggest name and franchise.

The game was supposedly complete last year, and has been in polishing phase for the last year according to leaks I read some time ago, iirc. I think the scope was changed but I think theyll hit the date. Bloodborne was delayed a month and I think From usually spends like half a year polishing.

I was very surprised when they spoke about the amount of weapons and weapon arts that can all be swapped around. That's so much work to do, and then you've got balancing issues when someone equips a certain art with a certain weapon, while wearing this ring and this piece of armour, that totally breaks the game.

I originally expected a date closer to July.

You think HFW won't be delayed? How cute.

On top of that, this is their first open world game.

Unfortunately I have to agree but who knows. I have a hard time believing that there wont be balancing issues If they release in February after reading the statements they made
