Multiplat Official Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Discussion

That skill is on the right side of her tree it's called breaking rules

Cheers mate.

I'm getting absolutely smashed on the forgotten battlefield, by three enemies guarding a purple thing.

It'd also feel weird going back with that team to the arena.

Might restart the game and make sure I'm level fucking 50 before going to Act 2.

Edit: Yeah, gone back to my save before the end of Act 1 and back to the arena. I think I missed a few things before then too.

How much 'real time' input does this game require during battle sequences, etc? And does it have those timed responses during conversations, like with The Witcher 3? I like to have a turn-based game to play over breakfast, while I'm not really awake yet and I'm doing other shit at the same time :p

lol this isn't the game you are looking for then. You 100% have to be involved in every battle.

Renoir totally looks like Pierce Brosnan. He should play him in the movie

Took me few tries just beat that super boss that's swimming in the water. Got great picto from it

Knocked off the Chromatic Abbest. Thought I'd have to come back endgame, but turns out that late 20s for each character does the trick, and his moves can be learned.

I'll go through the cliffs again, killing everything I see, later. I'll camp for now, then take a break.

I think I had a level 26 Gustave and the rest were level 22 or 23.

I did beat it again this morning, after respeccing all of my characters points into defence. Having Lune and Maelle survive multiple shots instead of drop after one really helped, and I started to get better with the light sword counter in the second phase.

I'm wondering what is better, HP or defence. The increase in the health number is nice, and putting into vitality also helps with might, but maybe healing spells work better with a high defence stat, especially as damage is reduced? I had my new character specced into HP instead of defence, and he has dropped once already.

I absolutely need to find that Maelle skill. Having to wait for nine action points, just to take the shield down of a cultist and then whittle the health down with a basic attack has been rotten. Thanks for the heads up.

The end of Act 1, whilst beautifully done, was awful to me. Twas like a punch to the gut.
Look at your Pictos. I've just recently started looking at them in detail, and some will give you like an extra 600 hit points. I couldn't figure out why some characters had like damn near 2000 hit points, and others had like 700. It's the Pictos. I'm guessing you have some set in your characters and forgot about it, like I did. They can give you major boosts in all areas. Don't stick with those Level 1-3 Pictos in your sets. Change 'em up.

Not that far in but amazing game so far.

Combat is very fun and it's so refreshing to actually have good dialogue in a JRPG. Skill trees have so many good looking builds that I'm already looking forward to the next playthrough.

I also like the design choices for pictos and consumables.

Recognition from French President:

14 years after Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk presented US President Barack Obama with a copy of The Witcher 2 as an official diplomatic gift, French President Emmanuel Macron is getting in on the "recognizing the cultural value of videogames" action. No, he hasn't added Donald Trump to his Steam friends list, but he did take a moment out of his surely-busy day to shout out French development studio Sandfall Interactive for its big success with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

"A million copies and to date, one of the best-rated games in history: and yes, it's French!" Macron wrote on Instagram (Google translated). "Congratulations to Sandfall Interactive and all the creators of Expedition 33. You are a shining example of French audacity and creativity."

Finally got to try out some of those crazy optional bosses I keep hearing about, now that the world map is opening up. Yeah, they're no joke. One I gave up on seemed reasonable, but I just lost my patience with it. Just a bigger one of those "crystal back" nevrons, but his attack patterns were weird as fuck, and he beefs himself up halfway through the fight, where he gets to do his attacks twice in a row. Meh, at least he let me run around him and collect the items he was guarding. I'll probably give him a proper go later on when I'm 20 levels higher.

This other guy on the world map is on a completely different level. Just some purple dude with a big as hammer just standing around on some random beach. First attack one shots the entire party, and it was only the first hit of his combo. LOL. Yeah, I doubt I'll be completing all the side stuff.

I legit just one shooted the flying one with maelle hitting close 11mill damage tho she currently highest character just hitting 82. I ended up beating the sprong 1 before beating act 2

Just finished Act 1 this morning. Gotta figure out how best to use the new character.

Yeah, you've been grinding your ass off. I'm still nowhere near your level from a few posts back. I think I'm in the high 20's, and just got past that "railroad" section in Act 2. I'm taking it in a natural pace, and it works great for the main campaign, but those side bosses will absolutely wreck you if you're not prepared. If I do end up grinding, it will probably be near the end, just to tick those boxes.

Great game, though. Not one wasted moment. My only small complaint would be those dumb side areas where it's literally just one little space with a haircut mod in the middle of it. Don't even know why they bothered with those areas. They're so pointless. I do like how the cosmetics will stay on your characters, even during the prerendered cutscenes, though. Just another thing that this game does better than most. I still have to remind myself that this is a AA game. There is nothing AA about it. It makes a AA game like "Greedfall" look like an absolute pile of shit put together by recent college grads, let alone the AAA games it runs circles around. It's such a rich, perfectly paced experience. I keep waiting for it to get stagnant and start going through the motions, and it never does.

Lol ya tho hitting 11 mill is nothing for some people I've seen vids of people hitting in with them sitting at 400 plus lumi

Just completed my team.

Wondering if I should go back to the previous map to check Stone Quarry and what looks to be a boss, or just push on.

Hit the Stone Quarry. There is a boss of sorts, but it's an easy gimmick fight. Nothing to be worried about. You get a decent picto out of it.

I will!

I may try and take on that big bastard opposite it as well...

I tried the other big bastard in the sea earlier on, but got stomped...

I really like that we get quite a few respec's in the game. Probably because you need 2 per person if you want to completely start over. I'm only in Act II but's its been nice being able to test other things out.

That's good to know. I've been hanging onto mine for a while because I didn't know how many you actually got. Some games give them to you in a decent amount but only to respec once or twice per character. I wonder if they decided to go this route due to so many weapons requiring different attributes.
