But Trump lives in Midtown Manhattan which one of the most expensive and densely populated areas in the country which makes it much more expensive than securing Crawford, TX for example. They have to do things like re-route flights out of LaGuardia around Trump Tower and they have unique security concerns like how to secure the section of subway beneath Trump Tower.

Apparently, it cost $1.4 billion per year to protect the white house under Obama, so I would be interested in seeing how the total costs of protecting the Obama family (at all times) measures against the projected cost of protecting the Trump family. It may be comparable even if it is a little more.

It's going to be significantly more expensive if Trump insists on spending so much time in Trump Tower.

That number isn't going to change under Trump. They will still have to secure the White House. As well as Trump Tower and his Florida mansion.

Well here is hoping spending cuts and generating more business in America offsets the cost of protecting the first family. Time will tell what Trump's policies do to the budget. It's irrelevant until we know.

This is interesting because George Bush who had to face 911 and a changing world took 405, Bill Clinton had the privilege of Running things after the fall of the Soviet union with no real major challenges to face only took 174.

Vacation time includes time that Bush was working from his ranch in Texas and time that Reagan was working from his home in California. Not really vacation time.
