Not really. The Senate was set up to be even less democratic than it is today. Under the Founders' design, Senators were not directly elected by the people of the state, but rather by the state legislatures.
Thankfully, this was changed by constitutional amendment.
What were the pros and cons of making that change?
By "tyranny of the majority" you really mean true democracy. Because it certainly does limit that.
Limiting tyranny sounds good to me. Unless it's my own. :icon_evil
