Normies being exposed to Memes has permanently changed the Political World.

I'm against any and all banning

But that meme thread.... it's just.... its unbelievable. It might be the worst thread on the entire internet by my estimation?
Yes I went in there and it's basically what I expected...Facebook quality memes that are aimed at old people....just a bunch of crap memes.

Well it was in context of discussing what to do about shit posting, meme spam, spamming smilies and reaction gifs.
The only real options were case by case infractions and dumping meme/shit posting into one thread or just turning them off.
Videos weren't discussed, although I don't think there's really much difference between linking to videos and embedding them. Possibly I'm underestimating how lazy people are though.

I'm all for noncensorship to a near extreme level. No porn images and video.

But anyway, I'd rather see the video title and not have another window open up to watch something. Glad we haven't gone that route.

IDK man....That's Sherdog culture....A good reaction gif is always welcome IMO but yes, I seen a lot of crap reaction gifs.

Also the like button has created assholes who just post a nice ass to get likes...I see that shit more in UFC discussion tho.

Hmmm Mobile phones? I post from my phone sometimes and it does limit me in what I say, since it can't be too long or else ill be forever typing.

You mean like "Religion of Peace, Strikes again" or "That was wrong and he shouldn't have done that".......You're right, it is mindless and usually makes up the first replies of every thread but it's also part of sherdog culture....Yes we sherdoggers have a culture. I would honestly miss those dumb sayings lol.

Yes, mobile phones bring instant communication and that feeling of closeness and immediacy, but at the expense of length and depth.
Read the letters people used to write to each other in contrast to the equivalent amount of text messages.
Even on social media the prevalence of "smart" phones has had a noticeable effect on post length, word use etc.

Of course. Mindless, cut and paste repeating is exactly what I'd like to stamp out. It's not discussion.
Some posters would be more affected than others...
Which is why it is all relegated to one thread, where it literally harms no one. Like it or not memes are now a part of political discussion in our world.

It's not really discussion if all you do is cut and paste.
You can't pass a Turing test with meme spam.

Read the pipe thread around page 170 where I copied and pasted pieces of several articles and their links. No video.

Carry on my southern coforum poster!

LMFAO I'm fucking dying here. While I can't deny that it's a huge achievement for you to actually post several articles in a discussion forum, can you imagine how adrift you would have been in this thread if you didn't have any contribution at all that you could point at?

Now, serious question: were they legit sources? Or were they deranged mastrubation like zerohedge, gateway pundit and Alex Jones?

They were terrific. Of the highest IQ and quality.

;)

Noone's mad. We all love each other.

Man I've been an internet junkie since 2002 and all memes have ever been to me are a good laugh.

Memes are entertaining , funny, a good way to break the ice, a decent way to explain one's thoughts without resorting to a lot of text.
But memes can also be idiotic political mudslinging, misleading , deceptive, propaganda, trolling etc..

The US pop is 315 million, so statistically there is going to be more than a trivial number of people who take political memes seriously. Especially true for older folks. Parents of my friends , who are on social media, are apt to take political memes on face value.

Political memes used to be funny, but they've gotten old and repetitive. Some memes don't even make sense.
This is from the Meme thread, Maybe i missed the joke in this one.

Guessing the meme plays into the Obama is Kenyan CT, by implying he has a much stronger connection to Kenya than he lets on.

Ya rly....Back in my day, memes were earned....meaning that you couldn't just take a picture and put text over it and claim it was a meme....Memes from what I remember, were just funny pics with text that only some particular pics were deemed worthy enough to be used for memes.

Now a days, any jack ass can put text over a picture and people will accept it as a meme.

Add in Social Media....and quickly Memes were an effective way to spread propaganda/bullshit and masqueraded it as a "funny" meme.

"Normies", meaning people who weren't truly grown on the internet community(internet forums, 4chan, etc) are then easy as fuck to manipulate with memes....They simply don't have the internet IQ to understand that something is bullshit.

Reminds me of Q-Anon.......All the people I see with Q anon Shirts in rallies, are 100% normie motherfuckers....Middle Aged white women/men....Come on, these people didn't know memes existed 5 years ago.

4chan/anybody(Russian Trolls) who knows about the Internet knows that Normies are easily manipulated thru memes....Thus this is our future now.......Meme propaganda....

I mean its really is genius considering Social Media only gives you what you want to watch, and Memes are one of those things, specifically memes that agree with your views....They are much more effective and in your face than your typical cookie cutter political commercial you see on TV.

Memes are straight to the point, and lets be honest.....Normies don't research meme claims...They accept it as Gospel.

So welcome, Welcome to the meme era.
Posts like this are why you have to make threads whining about people ignoring you.

We did just have a man send 12 bombs to politicians, George Soros, and an actor that does not like Donald Trump, that he made in the back of a van covered in memes. I think it's fair to say the propaganda was a problem.

It amuses me what a high opinion you have of yourself. So undeserved.

I woudl say I'm about adequate. Luckily, with thinkers like you inserting your opinions here it's pretty easy to feel like a lofty intellectual.

Man ive been using the internet my whole life. I've used 4chan, ftp, etc.
Ive NEVER heard or referred to people that use memes as "Normies".

Cringe as fuck.

It's not just "normies" who are so easily manipulated. Clearly the people who frequent and who grew up in these sorts of e-shitholes are the ones who are deepest into their own CT garbage that they spread through memes. "Normies" have to be indoctrinated, while the hosts of this godawful virus have already been deeply indoctrinated.

I think it's usually a term used by shitposting memesters to refer to everyone that isn't a shitposting memester.
