Lol… what?
He took a 6 month paternity leave and no one noticed?
How many EV chargers were built?
At least he told us that bridges were racist. lol
I have no idea about him as a mayor. Maybe he did great? Just don’t know
You desperately need to unplug yourself from social media. Like, badly.
Pete’s paternity leave was 2 months, about 8 weeks. He still participated in urgent matters, high level meetings, things like that. For other things, you’re aware that all of the cabinet positions have a second in command, right? Like, we have a Deputy Sec of Transportation that can handle other tasks if needed.
It’s just incredible to me the way the Right mocks paternity leave. Aren’t you guys always saying that families collapse and there’s all sorts issues because of absentee fathers? But if a father wants to take paternity leave to bind with their newborn—in Pete’s case, his twins also were premature and had health issues early on—you guys mock it. We should all want guaranteed, paid maternity and paternity leave. FFS, women can get guaranteed paid maternity leave in most African nations, but not the good ol USA. It’s shameful.
It’s even more astounding because of the big push (and proposed tax break) from the Right for people to have kids. But once born, you oppose maternity and paternity leave, want to gut SNAP, Medicaid, siphon money from public education…
Pete never said bRiDgES are RaCiSt either.
I don’t know what you’re referring to with EV chargers, unless you mean
this fake news story that spread on social media. And you probably do mean that, because that’s your MO. It’s seriously remarkable how much nonsense you believe about people and issues because you read some salacious, fake, easily digestible 144 character trash.
Before Pete became mayor, South Bend was featured in an article about “dying cities in America.” His Smart Streets initiative totally changed that. It completely redeveloped and revitalized downtown South Bend, and brought in 200 million dollars in private investment into the city. The city spent money to totally revitalize the city’s parks, which had declined for decades.
And a really cool thing he did there was the Smart Sewer program. It uses electronic sensors to detect levels or storm water and wastewater, and divert excessive amounts to other areas to prevent overflows—it saved South Bend 450 million dollars.
Researchers in the College of Engineering developed the technology to help cities with combined sewer systems comply with federal water quality standard...
