No Limit Hold 'Em Poker Discussion

Depends.

You're not really looking to just win the blinds, rather than double up......and pushing, say A 6 under the gun is unlikely to achieve that.

.....but yeah, you're basically looking to get lucky, so have to go for it sometimes.

By the time you're that short stacked, I'm assuming you're going to have to get lucky... numerous times

For those of you who really enjoy the game, and the history of the game, allow me to make a suggestion, read the following book : All-In The Almost Entirely True Stroy if The World Series of Poker

I’m about halfway though it, stumbled upon it while looking for poker books at the library and it is straight up fantastic. I can’t put it down, and it’s a really smooth, enjoyable read. An excellent blend of player accounts, casino history, the history of the WSOP, and the characters that made it. Tons of details about how the WSOP came to be, it’s early life and all of the changes that took place year to year. A million quips and interesting bits. You’ll know a lot of the names if you know the game on any level. I mean it. Read this book. I’m going to buy it when I’m done reading it.

According to the reviews the revised version has some serious errors regarding hand history in the 2006 WSOP Main, which I do think is a shame. But this book isn’t about analysis and strategy, is a fast and fun history that was made to be accesible to the reader.

I’m trying to learn how to play, are there any online resources to help me learn? Sherbros are whom I trust the most.

I recommend Red Chip Poker. For the cost of 1 red chip a week you get pretty good courses.

What’s your level of experience and what games are you looking to learn?

yeah but i feel like he’d rob me in a seedy game of dominoes

Nah he wouldn’t rob you, he’d just stumble outside into the alley where his nephew had just robbed you and then offer to loan you some money to get you back on your feet.
