No Limit Hold 'Em Poker Discussion

Maybe. Technically.

I guarantee if it was the other way round, I'm not taking the pot.

It’s dumb but some people are just that way. It was definitely a douche move for him to take the pot. I think most people might have offered a split. A similar thing happened to me the second time I played in a casino. I was pretty passed at the villain.

Even without the alcohol, it was an easy mistake to make. Obviously what you said was in jest and for it to be taken seriously is complete bullshit. What goes around comes around tho, that dbag has bad karma coming his way.

Btw you call that 100/100 times because the 10/6 hand is so rare to play there. You’d win it over time

villain could also have J10 in that spot though. The insta shove is what gets me. In my experience those are usually bluffs… usually hence why I lose sometime lol.

damn that’s a shitty way of losing.

I wouldn’t have taken the pot either but that’s why you have to be on your guard and not fuck around too much. People will take advantage of the opportunity if it presents itself and the douchebag villain did.

No. No.

The alcohol is the only excuse.

which I’m fine with, but he made a silly mistake.

You cannot ever, fucking period, point blank, say something at a poker table that you don’t mean during a showdown. It can and probably will bite you in the ass.

I feel for him and I’ve fucked up like that before, but it’s his fault. It totally sucks, but That’s it.

When money is on the line, you can’t expect anyone to share your morals.

Whilst true, this is a game I’ve played in for years, and 90% is fun and friendly, and played in the right spirits. Bit of banter is normal.

The consensus at the table, including the dealer and floor manager, was that the right thing to do was award me the pot, but the guy refused to flinch even when suggested we split 50/50.

Not too mad really. If same thing happened next time with the villain in reverse, I’ll still not even contemplate keeping the pot. Guy is actually a nice enough fellah. Kinda respect him for not backing down, even if it was clearly the wrong thing to do.

450 into 80? No sir. Villain acted first on the river, basically shoving in the dark. You can't call that.

Ok guys.

Someone here is a poker coach. I know it.

You have to be super nutted
Very much so. Unless you have intel on villain it's an easy choice to cut the $40 loss. There are better spots to get your money in. V could just as easily have a set instead of a straight and you're still beat.

K, then lose every good hand you have.

lol @ super nutted

most people aren’t playing the odds at the table. It’s a win over time, if you lost this hand the next one you’re just as likely to win. Stop being a bitch the money is just a resource. It’s a game if you can’t afford to take the L don’t gamble you clowns.

Most people playing low stakes poker, 2/2 1/3 have no idea what over time even means. You’re wrong as hell bro lmao

Ah so odds change because the stakes are lower lmao

So your hand improved and you let your opponent dictate it?
You have no idea what you're talking about. If you wanna call for 450 in an 80 pot with 2 pair go do your thing.

If he had anything worth a shit he’d raise on the flop. He goes all in on the river, the odds he has KQ is basically 0, if he’s holding J/10 that’s a shit call.

No, jackwagon, but when you know the players you are against, and you pick up what they are doing, you factor that into your play.

And you don’t play every game the same. You don’t play low stakes they way you do mid or high.

You don’t play tournaments the way you do cash games.

You don’t play 6max turbos the way you do deepstacks.

The odds don’t change, but the hero needs to.

Cmon son.
