Nganou refused the 8-14 Million offer to fight jones

I thought it was closer to 8 and 15, still that's 23 million bucks. Huge money. Way more than what he would have gotten in the ufc even if the ufc paid him 8 million a fight.
Absolutely, keep in mind he lost both fights yet still got a payday of around 10 million in PFL in his return, he signs for 8 million (and PPV?) in the UFC and loses he would go back to shit pay, if he wins then they probably do a rematch for decent money, but other than fighting Jones they wont draw the same and wouldnt make sense to pay him 8 million a fight, like the PFL did, in boxing he fought two of the biggest HW draws, if not the two biggest HW draws, goes back to MMA to fight a guy only hardcores know about for similar money, they dont have another fight like that for him, i read he negotiated 12million for the 2nd MMA fight and 2 million at least for his opponents, they are not making money with him, lol.

It's $8 million for the first fight - but if he loses he's back to $500K (maybe $1 million tops) and bent over a barrel with his ass in the air for a 6 fight contract or whatever.

Instead he went to Saudi Arabia, boxed twice, lost both fights, and still made $40 million; then he went to the PFL and crushed a HW that wouldn't even be top 25 in the world for another $10 million.

Based on the $50 million in his bank account he chose wisely.
Biggest winner in the rigged game that is mma ever, from a financial standpoint. And it's not really close.

This is a lost leader. They are operating in the red to have Ngannou. They only have bums for him to fight! I think Werdum showed that he was interested, like dude you're 50. But PFL has no one. Heavyweight as a whole is very thin. The only good that can come of this is more heavyweight fighters decide to give mma a try and PFL becomes a breeding ground for future heavyweight fighters because even in the ufc, heavyweight is THIN as shit. PFL gave Ngannou and insane deal. But losing a ton of money is never a good idea for an investment. The ufc offered the most they could afford to offer Ngannou and still make a profit for themselves. It's about asses in seats and ppv numbers and ngannou doesn't bring those in. He's a decent draw but not a Conor level or e ven Jones level or gsp level.

the man refused it if he didnt refused it the fight should have happened already
so heres the proof

legit proof he ducked
this isnt a fanboy opinion but facts
Dude, you are so cracked. Jones waited for the day that Ngannou left and then started barking like a little dog. There's no "proof" other than Ngannou was ready to fight Jones for 3 YEARS and the day he moved on, here comes Jon Jones pretending he wanted to fight all along. You're just as weak as Jones. Duck, coward, pussy.

Jones agreed to the fight. The offer was for UFC 285, the fight card that Jones fought Gane on. So he was already booked for that card.

Nope!

Jones had not signed any contracts until Francis was strippd of the belt.

The day Francis was stripped and released Jones announced he signed for 8 more fights and 1st was vs Gane.

I double checked and it's true

He dodnt sign until the day Francis left LMAO

It's doesn't get more obvious than that!

Everyone on these forums needs to understand that it's illegal for UFC fighters to disclose their true salary/offers. it's written into their contracts. If a fighter says they were paid/offered X money from the UFC, it is by definition a lie (or it's a crime).

Ngannou being offered 8 million to fight Jones is a joke. He was obviously offered more, and if you genuinely believe the 8 million number, then you're a delusional idoit.

Thank you, these people still won't listen because it is not what they want to tell themselves, but it is not different than any other company. It is the same reason all salary postings on Glassdoor are anonymous, all of that info is company confidential information. I am also sick of hearing this $8M number being constantly attributed to Francis when that number came from Ariel. Francis stated that there was never any offer made to him from the UFC because they were too far apart in their talks to ever get to that point.

i read he negotiated 12million for the 2nd MMA fight and 2 million at least for his opponents, they are not making money with him, lol.

That is where I start to consider what Dana means by knowing who Francis really is. This idea of Francis negotiating pay and benefits for other fighters and his opponents specifically is insane. No company could ever possibly agree to that because it is blatantly illegal under antitrust laws as it is the definition of collusion. If a company signed a contract with Ngannou that included any clause regarding the compensation of another fighter because they are clearly competing companies, every fighter with a contract would have an open and shut case of antitrust violations against them.

Francis is not scared of no jon jones nor jones of francis... The money has to be right with no strings attached
Yeah, I'm surprised how many fans just side with the UFC and say one of them was asking for too much

They both realised that this was THE only high value HW fight for a long time and their only real chance of getting a massive payday.

It's $8 million for the first fight - but if he loses he's back to $500K (maybe $1 million tops) and bent over a barrel with his ass in the air for a 6 fight contract or whatever.

Great point.
If Ngannou stayed in UFC, that Jon fight would be the ONLY time he'd ever make big bucks.

The rest of the division had no stars.

Ngannou's last UFC fight, as a defending champ - he only made $600K

Interesting.
Feels like I've seen similar agreements before but can't think of any.

After quick read on antitrust laws it seems like you're right.
Looks it would be called collusion if a company and 2 contractors (fighters) agreed to payment for both fighters - as that could "hur the competition in the market" and violate the idea of competition.

You are incorrect my friend. I am one of the few people that actually knows this fiasco quite well, I will inform you.

First and foremost, Jones already had a 8 fight contract he signed years ago. What Jones did the course of 2021 and 2022 was renegotiate the existing terms of his contract and the percentages. The UFC and Jon actually agreed to new terms end of 2022 and he was slated for UFC 285 on March 4th. They just didn't announce it till Jan 14th as they were waiting on the opponent.

Once the UFC agreed on new terms with Jon, they went after Francis who at this point was already a free agent as his contract expired in December of 2022. But Francis was still negotiating to make a deal with the UFC.

The final stages took places in the first two week of 2023 and that is where the contract offer was made to Francis for the Jones fight. Here is the interview with Francis where he says the UFC reached out to him early 2023 and they spoke Tuesday Jan 10th to make a deal. Francis says here they were looking to make a fight for March 4th, UFC 285. It was a 3 fight deal and the Jones fight with figures was in the contract. Francis didn't like the terms and said no deal and moved on.

Now the reason why Jones vs Gane and Jones new terms were announced same day Jan 14th was because news broke Fracnis was leaving. So the UFC doing damage control announced their own HW title fight and Jones come back at HW. But the plan was Jones vs Francis.

Now you have all the pieces of this situation step by step.

No dude, you are the one that is clueless on this situation. Jones didnt wait till he left, Jones had new terms of his contract in place after negotiating with the UFC for 2 years, he signed in late 2022. The moment the UFC and Jones came to terms in late 2022 the UFC reached out to Francis and tried to make the fight.

And cut the BS Francis was ready to fight him for 3 years, that's BS. Francis was going after the HW title in 2020 and 2021. And was out for all of 2022 working on new terms just like Jon.

As I posted a few times already, here is the interview with Francis where he mentions the UFC and he spoke on Tuesday Jan 10th, 2023 and the UFC offered a 3 fight deal, no extension and the Jones fight for March 4th, 2023 which was UFC 285. He clearly says they were looking to make a fight for March 4th and offered it to him. And he talks about the pay he was offered for that fight.

Francis didnt like the deal and moved on. Jones fought Gane on that very event for the HW title.

morally? he's being paid in Arab oil money and joined an organization that has ties to scam artist extraordinaire Jake Paul. he made out with the money, but lost some creditability to his legacy by never fighting Jones. yes, it's both their faults and UFC, but still it's a mark on BOTH of their careers by never fighting each other. the other thing is, he lost a TON of eyes on him and that has definitely hurt his star power, evidenced by how shit his PFL PPV sold vs Fereira.
Finally. Someone with common sense on this issue.

Ngannu made the best choice to box. Hes made more money in 1 fight than hes ever make in MMA his entire career. And it looks like he has quiet a few boxing matches he can do to make even more.
He does?? And to box who exactly??

This notion that Jon had years to fight Francis is beyond ludicrous

Francis was champion for less than a year and out injured for significant part of his championship making Gane interim champion.

No, he said he would fight but wanted a clause in to contract to allow him to box, that is the only reason it didn't go through.
