NFL players are D Level athletes.

of the three major american sports, football is the only sport which has had athletes cross over into other sports for the olympics, afaik (track, bobsledding come to mind).

Saw a man fighting another man while driving through a bad neighborhood last month.

I saw a girl catch a football today, and then run with it in her hands. Amazing.

Over half of NFL players are OBESE. Nobody in the NFL would ever beat someone like Brock Lesnar.

Weidman would have someone like Suh tapping in less than a minute even with a 100lbs disadvantage.

yeah, also football players have really bad endurance. they train for tremendous yet brief explosive bursts. no way an athlete training under a football regimen can last even one full round without gassing.

True, and yet you could replace any equal sized UFC fighter into an NFL lineup and they'd do far better than replacing anyone of equal size into the UFC.

It's fucking true! Jones oldest brother is straight up fucking F for fail or fat. That's not a diss.. that's a fact. They're D level American douchebag kids that wanted to do it and got juicy.

Agreed. NFL fatasses have nothing on the average mma athlete. Footballs sucks and their athletes are soft.

Fighting another man >>> Running, pushing and catching a ball

Clueless. I mean it's fine if you don't understand the sport, but don't diminish the athletes because of it. NFL linemen are amazing athletes.

What a stupid, stupid thread. TS should be banned.

I actually think on the average Baseball players are the worst. They might play a ton of games but for the most part don't do much, aside from the pitcher. Is it hard to hit a fastball for a home run? Sure. But a Right fielder stands out there for how many minutes of the game and does nothing.

NBA players run and run, sure thing but for the most part its endurance and hand eye.

NHL players skate, hit, fight, have great hand eye and play often.

NFL players, have such a wide array of skills I think its tough. A wide receiver is strong and fast, with great hand eye. A running back is strong and has great stamina. A linebacker is quick and strong. Sure you have the offensive lineman or defensive lineman who are strong but don't have to run like crazy.

Take it on the average and I would rank it like this when it comes to overall athletic ability on average:
NHL
NFL
NBA
Golf
Cricket
MLB

I don't think MMA really fits because to fight in the UFC you have to be a freakish athlete.

Watching baseball is like watching the grass grow...yes it takes skill, but man is it BORING...

I dont watch football, but I think you are referring to lineman.

Many linemen carry fat, but they are FREAK athletes guys like Dontari Poe weigh 350lbs and run the 40 in less than 5 seconds and bench 225 for 44 reps

Brock wasnt getting those numbers. Many NFL players wrestled in HS, they dont pursue it in college because there is no money to be made in wrestling or combat sports.

Dont get it twisted. Linemen are freaky athletes despite their size

NFL players get paid the least compared to the rest because they also have the shortest season and play less games than other sports.

I think that if you have a guy like JJ Watt, Mario Williams or Julius Peppers seriously train MMA for a a year, they would contend for the HW title straight out of the gate.

I believe Conor had a torn ACL at the time. Also, there is a GIF of him making the jump. These people must think that Olympic gymnasts are the best fighters in the world.

Thank you for pointing that out rather than pointing a typical finger, laughing and sharing some inane stupid thought about it. Context is such an under used tool, some people seem to believe that cynicism or skepticism are somehow synonymous with Truth. Opinions are usually always missing a deeper sub-text. It doesn't do right by it NOT knowing that he is likely training after an injury and that is especially difficult to judge basing it off of a 4 second GIF image with NO time index.

Penn pretty much jumped his whole height from water too bro. Just takes a lot of leg strength and dexterity.

The sports you are comparing it to have way less active players on the roster

Football teams keep 53 players not counting the practice squad guys, the league minimum for a rookie per year is $435,000 but it goes up per years in the league, for example a guy in his 3rd year minumum salary is $660,000

Ill take Shaub over any current NFL A-level athlete because no man in the nfl would beat shaub in a fight.

I had never seen this before, and I think I speak for everyone when I say this is the greatest gif to ever gif.
The best part is, there's another piece to it somewhere, where Conner crept back to do it at night when nobody was around and he wouldn't be humiliated by failing. :icon_lol:

Lineman are pressured to get their weight up because it's a leverage advantage when leaning on the opposing line. Those guys are pretty incredible for their size. Moving that much weight that fast is nothing short of astonishing. But you have to have the height genetics in the first place, which shrinks the pool even more. A very, very small percentage of he population could even be considered to start with.

I love both sports. I'm not saying one's athletes are better than the other's here :)

But yeah, I can do the jump that Watt did in the second gif. I do weigh a lot less than him though :)
