NFL players are D Level athletes.

Not to mention MLB=162 games
NBA=82
NHL=82
NFL=16

So what?

You'd rather be making millions less, have more injuries, and non-guaranteed contracts? That's the NFL.

NFL = rejects from other sports.

Then MMA equals......?

Guys who couldn't make it out of HS sports?

CM Punk is trying it out though.

It's fucking true! Jones oldest brother is straight up fucking F for fail or fat. That's not a diss.. that's a fact. They're D level American douchebag kids that wanted to do it and got juicy.

Is that really the best you could do? Trolls like you and TS aren't even trying anymore.

It's all about skill and dedication, not about being born with more impressive physical traits.

spot on. I don't watch MMA to watch the greatest athletes. martial arts is about technique prevailing over natural gifts, and I tune in to see who is the best at the craft. Determination, creativity, and knowledge are what is on display

like former NFL player Matt Mitrione got Ko'd, right?

People like to bring this up.
Mitrione was a NFL wash-out,
After a lifetime of playing football he became a PROFESSIONAL mixed martial artists in his late 20's early 30's
with a solid career of 13-4

How many mixed martial artists can go into ANY other professional sport in their 30s? and even attempt to compete??

The NFL athletes are amazing but yeah they have way less chance of ever making the NBA than vice versa.

NBA athletes are mindblowing even when compared to other major sports: the freakish size, the agility, the skill, the finesse, the explosion. NFL players are amazing too but are roided to the gills and lack anywhere near the skill (for most positions) of a pro basketball player.

Collegiate wrestlers and basketball players have literally walked into the NFL with virtually no experience. It's hard to imagine anyone doing that with the other major sports, because they have a much higher skill level.

Collegiate wrestlers and basketball players have walked into the NFL with no experience (that doesn't happen in other major sports). And plenty of non-NFL level athletes have done better than Mitrione in MMA with the same or less amount of experience (like JDS).

Athletes can't just choose what sport they're good at, despite what sherdog thinks.

Qft

Different sports need different kinds of athleticism, a big fat american football player would suck at football or basketball

Usain Bolt would suck at swimming and Phelps would suck at running

Even if they all trained their entire lives, sherdog is just obsessed with tall, heavy men

Imo JDS is a freak athlete born in the wrong country, if he played american football since middle school he would be great

I dont watch football, but I think you are referring to lineman.

Many linemen carry fat, but they are FREAK athletes guys like Dontari Poe weigh 350lbs and run the 40 in less than 5 seconds and bench 225 for 44 reps

Brock wasnt getting those numbers. Many NFL players wrestled in HS, they dont pursue it in college because there is no money to be made in wrestling or combat sports.

Dont get it twisted. Linemen are freaky athletes despite their size

Agree that lineman, and NFL players in general, are freak athletes. But not sure where you getting that Brock wasn't on par with them athletically. At 6'3" and ~300lbs, he ran a 4.7 40, 35" vert, 10ft broad jump, and 42 reps w/ 225lbs iirc. Relative to his size, he was among the most athletic guys on the planet in his prime.

True, and yet you could replace any equal sized UFC fighter into an NFL lineup and they'd do far better than replacing anyone of equal size into the UFC.

what?

If you want to look at salaries to compare athleticism then mma fighters are terrible athletes.
