My big stupid hype trains thread.

The UFC didn't sign a lot of guys recently, PFL is counting its pennies, GFL is focused on senior citizens, ONE is shrinking its MMA roster. Next DWCS season might have a lot of great prospects, guys like Bojkovic, Amru Magomedov, Bilal Hasan, Kubanza, Yakhyaev, Sezinando and Brito from Fighting Nerds + some good PFLator rejects

Sezinando is on the upcoming season of TUF

Two contender series chokers are fighting each other this month in CW: Will Currie vs Eli Aronov. Eli should win but the sub loss to Reese has aged worse and worse, don't think Currie has a particularly active guard though.

The joys of Heavyweight

  1. Shah Kamali – 1999ish – England – Levels Fight League – 4-0
  2. Mario Piazzon - 1998 - Brazil – Centurion FC - 8-0
  3. Marsel Sychev – 1997 – Belarus – RCC – 4-1
  4. Odie Delaney - 1989 - USA - Alaska FC - 5-0
  5. Alexander Soldatkin – 1993 – Russia – GFC – 14-5
  6. Bailey Schoenfelder - 1997 - USA - CFFC - 5-1
  7. Joel lier – 2001 – USA – Fury FC – 3-0
  8. Lazar Todev – 1995 – Bulgaria – Oktagon – 11-6
  9. Roman Likashevich – 1991 – Belarus – UAE Warriors – 10-0
  10. Aleksandr Maslov – 1993 – Russia – MMA Series – 11-1 (Re-entry)
  11. Josh Hokit - 1997 – USA – LFA – 3-0
  12. Denzel Freeman – 1991 – USA – LFA – 5-1
  13. Azamat Nuftillaev – 1994 – Uzbekistan – Open FC – 16-1-1

Not much happened really, I put Maslov back in as he doesn't seem to be with ACA anymore. He's not that great but hey it's HW. Nobody really fought.

Light Heavyweight

#2 Julius Walker signed for the UFC

  1. Abdulrakhman Yakhyaev - 2001 - Turkey - Ares - 6-0
  2. Luke Fernandez - 1995 - USA - CFFC - 4-0
  3. Boris Mbarga Atangana – 1999ish – Belgium – KOF – 5-0
  4. Rasul Magomedov - 1995 - Bahrain - BRAVE - 7-0
  5. Arlind Berisha – 2000 – Albania – All Stars FN – 3-0
  6. Felipe Franco – 2001 – Brazil – Demo Fight – 8-0
  7. Rafael Tobias – 2003 – Brazil – FFC – 12-1
  8. Emilio Quissua – 1997 – Germany – UAE Warriors – 6-0
  9. Andres Ramos – 1995 – Cuba – FNC – 5-1
  10. Kerim Daidov - 1997 - Kazakhstan - Octagon - 10-1
  11. Akhmed Gasanov – Russia – Hardcore FC – 10-0 (re-entry)
  12. Igor Glazkov - 1999 - Russia - RCCC - 11-1-1
  13. Alik Lorenz – 1997 – USA – LFA – 6-1

Walker getting signed has bumped people up a bit. Glazkov lost a split to Shamil Gamzatov which puts him down a few places but I haven’t had chance to watch the fight yet. Akhmed Gasanov is a guy I had on before that I’m not sure why he ever fell off as nobody ever beat him.

Middleweight

  1. Baysangur Susurkaev – 2001 – Russia – Fury FC – 7-0
  2. Matej Penaz - 1996 - Czechia - Oktagon - 10-1
  3. Virgil Augen - 1997ish - France - Ares - 8-0
  4. Norbert Novenyi Jr – 1999 – Hungary – Hexagone - 7-1 (new entry)
  5. Dani Barbir – Croatia – FNC – 7-0
  6. Ilian Bouafia - France - Hexagone - 6-0
  7. Murtaza Talha - 1996 - Bahrain - BRAVE - 6-1
  8. In Soo Hwang – 1994 – South Korea – Zombie Fight Night – 7-1
  9. Khabib Nabiev – 1999 - Russia – UAE Warriors – 10-0
  10. Christopher Ewert – 1993 – Chile – Fury FC – 7-0
  11. Vitor Costa – 2000 – Brazil – Jungle Fight – 8-1
  12. Eli Aronov - 1996 - Israel – Cage Warriors- 6-1
  13. Alibeg Suleimanov - 1997 - Russia - UAE Warriors - 5-0
  14. Dario Bellandi - Italy - Cage Warriors - 8-1
  15. Khaled Laalam - Sweden - UAE Warriors - 6-0
  16. Theo Haig – 1996 – USA – LFA – 6-0
  17. Lucas Fernando - 1997 - Brazil - LFA - 11-3
  18. Reese Watkins – 2001 – USA – Fury FC – 5-1
  19. Florian Aberger - Austian - Cage FS - 9-1
  20. Tornike Gigauri - Georgia - GFC - 7-0
  21. Jackson McVey – 1999 – USA – LFA – 5-0
  22. Noach Blyden – 1992 – Netherlands – BRAVE – 6-1
  23. Lajuan Davis – 1997 – USA – Peak Fighting – 6-1

Susurkaev moved over to Fury and dominated as expected to keep top spot.

Novenyi enters as he’s left PFL and is clearly a top prospect and will be fighting for Hexagone in May I think it is.

Bouafia won a decision up at 205 but I think that was just to get a fight off his Ares contract so I’ll leave him here.

I decided to drop Aberger down a few spots as he was basically rank squatting while not actually fighting. Will probably remove him altogether if he doesn’t get back to action soon.

  24. Yoon Sung Jang – 2002 – South Korea – Zombie Fight Night – 6-1
  25. Ray Waters - USA - Tuff-n-Uff - 5-0

Decided to move Cezary up a few places after he demolished Breese a weight division up.

Palacios won but I haven’t seen the fight yet so I haven’t moved him yet.

Lightweight

  1. Marko Bojkovic – 2001 – Serbia – FNC – 8-0
  2. Amru Magomedov - 1999 - Russia - UAE Warriors - 9-0
  3. Si Won Park - 2002 - South Korea - Road FC - 7-0
  4. Losene Keita - 1997 - Guinea - Oktagon - 16-1
  5. Eduard Vartanyan - 1991 - Russia - Nashe Delo - 26-4
  6. Adam Masaev – 2000 – Russia – Free Agent – 10-0 (Re-entry)
  7. Vasiliy Takhtay – 1996 – Kazkhstan – Dala FC – 10-0

  10. Mansher Khera - 1992 - USA - Fury FC - 8-0
  11. Juan Pablo Vieira - 2003 - Brazil - LFA - 8-0
  12. Harry Webb - 1999 - Australia - Eternal MMA - 5-0
  13. Axel Sola - 1997 - France - Ares - 9-0-1
  14. Yuji Yannick Ephoeviga – 1999 – Japan – Pancrase – 11-0
  15. Damian Rzepecki – 2002ish – Poland – FEN – 8-0
  16. Salmat Isbulaev – 1996 – Russia – Alash Pride – 8-0
  17. Magomed Zaynukov – 1995 – Russia – UAE Warriors – 7-0
  18. Luann Sardinha – 1996 – Brazil – LFA – 8-1
  19. Jefferson Nascimento - Brazil - LFA - 11-0
  20. Eduardo Vazquez - 1998 - Mexico - Budo Sento - 8-0
  21. Sayat Abduali – 2004ish – Kazakhstan – Octagon 7-0
  22. Marcelo Marques - 1997ish - Brazil - LFA - 11-0
  23. Nikita Kulshin - 2000 - Russia - LFA - 6-0
  24. George Hardwick - 1996 - England - Cage Warriors 13-2
  25. Vladislav Rudnev - 1996 - Ukraine - UAE Warriors - 10-0

Amru steamrolled a good fighter in Alex Leko, him and Bojkovic are basically 1a and 1b at this point.

I put Masaev back in as he was in the GFL draft so even if he didn’t get picked it looks like he’s free of ACA and looking to get active.

I dropped Zaynukov a few places because although he had a decent win he didn’t blow me away and that top 17 or so of the division is very competitive.

Felipe Buakaw just slipped off the bottom to make room for Masaev, didn’t do anything wrong.

Featherweight

#7 Tae Kyun Kim signed for PFL for their upcoming tournament

  1. Losene Keita - 1997 - Guinea - Oktagon - 16-1
  2. Icaro Brito – 1999 – Brazil – LFA – 8-1
  3. Marcio Barbosa - 1998 - Brazil - LFA - 16-2
  4. Harry Hardwick 1995ish - England - Cage Warriors - 12-3-1
  5. Ken Sekeletu – 2001ish – Zambia – EFC – 6-0
  6. Jose Delano - 1996 - Brazil - LFA - 15-3

  8. David Mgoyan – 2004 – Russia – Tuff-n-Uff – 6-0 (new entry)
  9. Ramiro Jimenez - 1999 - Mexico - Combate Global - 10-0
  10. Evgeny Ignatiev - 1995 - Russia - RCC - 22-2-3

  13. Radley Da Silva – Canada – BFL – 7-1
  14. Kurtis Campbell – 2002 – England – FCC – 7-0
  15. Ilias Bulaid – 1995 – Morocco – BRAVE - 6-0
  16. Iler Bakhiyrar Uulu – 2000ish – Kyrgyzstan – LFA – 10-2
  17. Willian Souza - 1996 - Brazil - Jungle Fight - 13-2
  18. Mochamed Machaev – 1999 – Austria – Oktagon – 15-2
  19. Canaan Kawahaei - 1997 - United Fight League - 9-2
  20. Max Holzer - 2002 - Germany - Oktagon - 10-0
  21. Damien Fernandez – 2003 – Mexico – Lux Fight League – 4-0
  22. Shermurat Kalilov – 1998 – Kyrgyzstan – Octagon – 10-0
  23. Lerryan Douglas – 1995 – Brazil – LFA – 12-5
  24. Sebastian Szalay – 1994ish – Australia – Eternal MMA – 8-1 (new entry)
  25. Jose Tony Cortez – 2001 – USA – Lights Out Championship – 5-0 (new entry)

Delano looked great in his last LFA fight, so I’ve bumped him back up the rankings a bit.

David Mgoyan levelled up in dominating solid vet John De Jesus so debuts on the list and deserves me to get around to making a post on him.

I dropped Ignatiev a bit just because I think his window might be starting to close.

Kurtis Campbell climbs into the middle of the pack with a really dominant grappling performance on the last FCC card, another guy who may well deserve a post.

Seb Szalay debuts towards the bottom of the list. He’s a Volkanovski training partner who’s the Eternal Champion. Won a really good title defence in his last fight. Quite back and forth and I thought I was going to be moving him up higher the way the first half of the fight was going but maybe still some grappling deficiencies there. I like him though.

Decided to sneak Jose Tony Cortez on at the bottom after his recent win too. I think he’s got a lot of upside and he’s been getting guys out of there quickly.

Anzor Chakaev is pretty inactive and drops off as does Marsel Nurlanbek who I kinda want to see fight a live body.

Bantamweight

  1. Asaf Chopurov – 2001 – Georgia – RCC – 7-0
  2. Santiago Luna – 2004 – Mexico – LXF – 5-0

  4. Juan Diaz - 1998 - Peru - LUX - 14-1-1
  5. Rakhim Midaev - 1995 - Russia - RCC - 14-2
  6. Marcos Aurelio – 2004 – Brazil – LFA – 7-0
  7. Mitch McKee - 1997 - USA - LFA - 8-0
  8. Nicholas Hwende - 1997ish - Zimbabwe - BRAVE - 9-1
  9. Rodrigo Vera - 1995 - Peru - Fusion FC - 19-1-1

  23. Nkosi Ndebele - South Africa - BRAVE - 8-3
  24. Hecher Sosa – 1995 – Spain – Wow FC – 11-1
  25. Gabriel Martinez – 2002 – Argentina – Samurai Fight House – 9-0

Caught up on Tiago Pereira’s Jungle Fight fights recently and was massively impressed with him as an all round fighter who’s really fucking good everywhere so he debuts high up.

Juan Diaz goes above Midaev to hold onto 4th after a really dominant 50-42 type performance in his last fight.

Marcos Aurelio won on the LFA prelims but they weren’t the televised ones so I haven’t been able to see it.

Aboubakar Younousov keeps winning even if you can’t really watch Ares easily these days.

Nazruloev comes back in after an easy win over an okay Brazilian in RCC, so it looks like he didn’t sign for ONE properly (hopefully).

Louis Lee-Scott also win which I haven’t seen, good opponent but apparently got hurt so would like to see if before I move him really.

Otari Tanzilovi sneaks back up a bit after a solid win on Fury, nothing amazing but defended his position against a guy who was on TUF.

Youssouf Binate drops off after the LLS loss.

Mauricio Partida just drops off the bottom to make room for other people.

  24. Rashid Vagabov – 1998 – Russia – UAE Warriors – 13-2 (Re-entry)
  25. Jarret Betancourt - 1998 - USA - All in Combat - 5-0

Phumi did what I was expecting him to do in his LFA debut so doesn’t move.

Marcos Degli continues to look like a destroyer so moves onto the cusp of the top 10.

Rashid Vagabov had a good performance in beating a solid Brazilian regional dude in 3D Araujo pretty easily so re-claims a place on the list which knocks Shawn Da Silva off

TUF should be interesting for me this year with #5 Idirs, #7 Chapolin and #11 Imanol all on it.

Women's Bantamweight

  1. Sabrina De Sousa - 2000 - Brazil - BRAVE - 2-0
  2. Jasmine Favero - 2000 - Italy - Cage Warriors - 3-0
  3. Lucia Szabova - 1997 - Slovakia - Oktagon - 9-0

  11. Beatriz Mesquita – 1991 – Brazil – LFA – 3-0
  12. Sierra Dinwoodie – 1995 – Canada – LFA – 4-0

Lucia Szabova got a UFC vet win against Kalindra Faria, albeit one who hasn’t been in the UFC for a while.

I remembered Taylor Guardado is still eligible and isn’t with PFL anymore so I stuck her in as I think she’d do fine in the UFC.

Same with Auttumn Norton who I should have put back on after she melted Martins but I forgot.

Sierra Dinwoodie got a win in LFA but I wasn’t overly impressed tbh, she’s an okay grappler so I’ll leave her on.

Women's Flyweight

  1. Maritza Sanchez - 1998 - USA - Combate Global - 6-1
  2. Beatriz Consuli - 2000 - Brazil - LFA - 5-0
  3. Jacinta Austin - 1994 - Australia - Eternal MMA - 8-2
  4. Jady Menezes – 1992 – Brazil – Ares – 5-1
  5. Shannon Clark - 1992 - Canada - LFA - 6-1
  6. Cheyanne Bowers – 1994 – USA – LFA – 5-2
  7. Marina Spasic – 1994ish – Serbia – FNC - 6-0
  8. Mafalda Carmona – 2001ish – Portugal – Kingdom Fighting – 7-3
  9. Alexandra Tekenah - 1994 - France - Ares - 6-2
  10. Veronika Borisova – 2001 – Russia – LFA – 6-1
  11. Sora Rakhmonova – 1998 – Kazakhstan – Naiza FC – 4-1

Tekenah got a win but on Ares which you can’t see, but good to see her bounce back from the title loss. Quiet other than that in this division.

Strawweight

#20 Marina Monteiro has a fight in KSW so I’ve taken her off for now, will put her back on if it turns out to be a one off.

  1. Julieta Martinez - 2004 - Argentina - Samurai Fight House - 8-0

  18. Melissa Amaya – 1994 – USA – GFL – 7-0
  19. Laura Vasconcelos – 2000 – Brazil – Jungle Fight – 4-0
  20. Tatiana Postarnakova – 2000 – Russia – Nashe Delo – 6-0
  21. Sidney Trillo – USA – LFA – 5-1
  22. Melissa Hurtado – 1999ish – Cuba – Ares – 3-0
  23. Dayane Cardoso – 1996 – Brazil – Mr Cage – 10-2-1 (Re-entry)

Big jump up for Lany Silva who really levelled up in her LFA title fight, dominating DWCS vet Conceicao and knocking her out with a spectacular head kick.

Took Assia Miri off as someone told me she retired.

Put Dayane Cardoso back in as she’s left ONE and she’s still young and pretty good.
