Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

How will Ferreira's last performance affect his ranking?

I dropped him down to #12, that's a big hole that got exposed.
I was severely disappointed in that performance. Also, I see there is no Cappelozza or Delija in your rankings, any particular reason?

I set an arbitary age limit of 33 and another arbitary limit that if you were over 28 you couldn't have more than 20 fights.

I just think above that you're not really a prospect. Though I do have a couple of LHWs that have sneaked to 34 because I can't think of who to replace them with.

Not much needs to be said really. Lazy King is just going into utter beast mode. Ridiculously aggressive GNP to just blast Karl Amoussou out of there and defend his ARES title. Surely his next fight has to be on UFC Paris, it's an utter disgrace if he doesn't get signed. Dude is entertaining in the cage and fun and charismatic out of it.

I noticed this girl the other week when I saw that she'd beaten previous hype train Mafalda Carmona, but didn't actually get to see her until the weekend where she fought very solid regional gatekeeper Rizlan Zouak.

I have to say I was impressed, particularly with the way she dealt with the judo of the former Olympian Zouak. Rather than fight like fuck to not get thrown and get thrown anyway, she rather worked out ways to ride the throws and end up fucking up something in the execution for Zouak that allowed her to land in the better position on the mat. This happened several times and allowed her access to the back and to work her brown belt BJJ. Particularly with the lack of depth in the BW division, you would think she'd be on the UFC radar with this one.

Also some random shoutouts from the weekend that I'm not quite willing to give hype trains to but I feel deserve mention, like I used to do but stopped doing for some reason.

Joshua Weems (28/BW/USA/9-2) looked very good sticking the nail in the Mo Miller coffin, getting a finish over the previously touted (by me lol) prospect. Initially taken down a few times, but doing an excellent job getting his back to the cage and working up, making Miller work harder and harder, getting his own pretty dynamic striking in and ultimately managing to tire out Mo and finish him.

Marcio Dos Santos (24/FW/Brazil/12-1) just seems like a power house, constantly pressured forward, seems to have good power (sent his opponent flying at one point), has a great squeeze on his choke too. Another performance like that and he'll be getting a hype train.

Julia Polastri (24/SW/Brazil/9-3) dropped back down after the 125 DWCS fight to her natural weight class and rebounded from a tough first round against UFC vet Kalindra Faria to hustle her way back and win through aggression and cardio.

Matheus Correia (21/BW/Brazil/6-0) was superb for two rounds against a 10-1 opponent with constant forward pressure and dynamic boxing and great cardio. Lost out on a hype train by being a bit sloppy in the 2nd round and being swept by a kimura bump sweep that shouldn't happen at this level and then having a tough time on his back.

Bella Mir (19/FLW/USA/3-0) absolutely trashed a low level opponent, but gained bonus points for looking like she'd have been happy to snap her opponent's arm just like her old man.

Jacobe Smith (26/WW/3-0) is a D1 dude training out of AKA who utterly mauled a can and looked like he needs much better competition, but is probably the type of guy people will want to avoid.

Ooh I had no idea Rousimar Palhares fought recently. I thought he had retired. Glad to see it and glad to see he got knocked out.

Part one of new rankings.

Since last time #24 HW Hamdy Abdelwahab signed for the UFC and #21 LHW Zac Pauga has made the TUF finale so I've taken him out as he will be fighting in the UFC for one fight at least.

@Hellowhosthat

Was Garry your #1 welterweight at some point before he was signed? How did you like his performance against Green?

I was pretty impressed, Green is no slouch. Garry was picking him apart.

He peaked at #2 just before he signed, never got past Soldic.

Thought he did well, more to come but seems much more comfortable in the UFC/training at Sanford now.

Don’t know if you seen it - after Satybaldiev-Selevistrov fight Vladimir appealed his loss. Promotion send video of the fight to 5 Russian and 2 foreign judges and 6 of them scored it 3 rounds for Vladimir 2 for Uran and one 3 for Uran 2 for Vladimir. So result was changed for split decision win for Vladimir, he is now interim champ and after his broken hand heals he will rematch Uran.

Gabriel Alves Braga

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Featherweight
Age : 24
Promotion - UAE Warriors
Record : 8-0

Somewhat of a breakout performance from Gabriel for me. I've seen him on LFA Brazil before but in this one he really seemed to level up as he absolutely dominated Faeez Jacobs. Just seemed to excel absolutely everywhere, dominating the fight with both grappling and striking. Excellent top control and back takes, good ground and pound to do genuine damage down there. Crisp boxing, great leg kicks which dropped his opponent on occasion. Looks a real problem.

Ali Taleb

Country - Sweden
Weight Class - Bantamweight
Age : Not sure
Promotion - UAE Warriors
Record : 7-0

I really thought this was going to be the fight where Lokdog got an impressive finish and went off sailing into the UFC. Unfortunately for him, Ali Taleb had no intention of being anyone's stepping stone. Yes part of it was Lokdog dropping his hands and being cocky, but he gets away with it with everyone else so you have to give credit to Taleb for having the timing and power to make him pay for it.

Said he had an offer from KSW after the fight, but he might have bigger fish to fry now.

Also want to give quick mentions to....

Michael Dufort (28/LW/Canada/10-4) who I reckon is better than his record suggests. He's got a great chin and a capability to get into wars and really good top BJJ too. Also has an awesome stache.

Murad Magomedov (?/BW/Russia/12-0) who took a round to get going in his first fight since leaving ACA, but once he did he looked very hard to stop. Can hopefully get active again.

Dias Erengepiev (27/FLW/Kazakhstan/13-3) who's a very gritty hard nosed bomb chucking wrestler type. Got to give him credit for a clear win over previously undefeated hype train Abdula Aliev.

Jacqueline Cavalcanti (24/FW/Portugal/3-1) who I remember thinking actually won her PFL challengers fight against Martina Jindrova (who's now doing well in the regular season) looked really good against an admittedly smaller and overmatched opponent, landing nice strikes from range, looking pretty technical and finishing with a flying knee to the body.

Melissa Amaya (27/FLW/USA/4-0) decided to stand and bang in her fight with Naomi Tatoraglu after having previously impressed me with her BJJ. She had a much closer fight than last time, but she got by on the feet against an opponent who looked pretty good technically.

Ramiro Jimenez (23/LW/Mexico/6-0) I think needs to work on his distance management a little bit, but he's got nice boxing and he's extremely aggressive which usually scores points with me. Got a good first round finish of a dude who's been in there with a lot of higher level regional guys.

Francisco Prado (20/LW/Argentina/9-0) looked good beating up his more experienced opponent before getting a finish with a von flue choke. He's too young for the UFC, but has probably outgrown the Argentine regionals and should consider looking for fights in a Mexican or Brazilian promotion next (or maybe FFC in Peru).

Kind of weird situation. I scored it 3-2 Uran myself, but the 3rd could have gone either way.
