Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

Is that because you want to hear English commentary? Because from what I understand currently their events are on YouTube for free.
I do not like hunting for fights, I am busy, I gladly pay getting foreign shows like JCK MMA on fight pass, .. And would like a way for these top fighters to get into UFC. Also, some English in the commentary is nice.

Gonna try and get back in the habit of listing interesting fights for people. I can never be bothered to translate the rankings over but they're on Tap.

Samurai Fight House on Sunday

Koreshkov fought in Russia 2 days ago. Sidelnikov fights in Russia in July.
According to Sidelnikov, they are free to fight in Russia if it's a local promotion and not international one.
Was probably booked for that Fedor event in Moscow before it got cancelled.

Oleg Popv vs. Bigfoot Silva this Friday at MMA Series 53.

Bigfoot really shouldn't be fighting but at least Popov is a lay on people and beat you up a bit kind of guy so he shouldn't get too badly hurt.

Jakub Wiklacz

Country - Poland
Weight Class - Bantamweight
Age : 25
Promotion - KSW
Record : 13-3-1

Another dude who keeps getting more and more impressive every time I see him, Wiklacz is just turning into an exceptional grappler which he showed in a dominant performance over highly touted Bruno Santos. Takedowns were good but it was the top control and positional changes that really shone through as he floats from position to position maintaining excellent control at all times while looking for subs.

The likely rematch with Przybysz who was the last guy to defeat him should be a barnburner.

This week we've got..

I'm stock for this event, had I not been so broke this month I would have driven to Paris to watch it live...

Sadly, some of my most anticipated fights have been removed :(

I'm pumped for the "Lazy GOAT" (I had to check to make sure you were being cheeky with that nickname :D okok, he's apparently still the Lazy King...) vs ol' Karl Amoussou,
(that I always used to confuse with Bertrand Amoussou, that we didn't like in my group of friends/family since his French PRIDE commentary was pretty shitty, and for other reasons... that in retrospect weren't very fair)

But I really wanted to watch Yassine Boughanem take on Fabio Kwasi (it would have been Kwasi's first MMA bout, so it would have probably been a fun stand-up battle)

I was also anticipating Dawid "Roman" Romanski, from Poland, (a guy with solid boxing/kickboxing skills, and who had the good idea of getting his inevitable submission- losses-from-early-bouts out of his system as an amateur, so his pro record looks pretty clean) vs MMA Factory's Temerlan Azizov
But sadly this bout was also scrapped :(

Anyway, to speak about fights that are actually happening, I'm really glad they managed to find a fight for MMA Factory's Damien "The Walking Dead" Lapilus, after both of his original match-ups got scrapped...
Damien might be the less talented of the Lapilus bros, with his younger brother Taylor being the badass elite that I hope will be signed by the UFC for the next UFC in France...

But he's still very entertaining to watch, and you know what, fuck it, if at the next UFC they get Taylor "Double Impact" Lapilus to fight on the main card (I've read that it was a possibility, but since Dana and Fernand Lopez aren't in good term I hope it doesn't mess with the fights, like it did when Dana had a beef with Vadim),
I really really hope they also get older brother Damien to put on an exciting scrap on the undercard, so they spectators are encouraged to enter the building and find their seats ASAP instead of chain-smoking outside and taking one last shit and a few last shots.

So yeah, Damien better win this one, but it's gonna be tough, his opponent Amin Ayoun is also a veteran, and if he lost his last fight against the talented Ahmed "The Butcher" Amir for the BRAVE CF lightweight title,in a 5 rounds battle, before that Amin was on a 8 fights winning streak...

It ain't gonna be easy for the older Lapilus, but if he wins I hope it means he gets a slot on the preliminary card of the next UFC Paris <5>

I guess his opponent kinda overlooks him though, since he's signed to fight at BRAVE CF just a month after fighting Lapilus...
LUCAS_MARTINS_vs_AMIN_AYOUB-fight-announcement-brazil-2022-1080x1350_IG.jpg

there, he will face someone I had meant to talk about in this very thread, the UFC veteran ,Brazilan Lucas "Mineiro" Martins
(20-6 in general, 4-3 in the UFC)

"Mineiro" might seem washed up, since he lost his last 3 fights, but they were all against good competition... he lost via knee injury during a takedown in a BRACE FC title fight against "The Pride of Palestine" Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady

"Mineiro" then lost to Bubba Jenkins, another solid veteran.

And all the guys Martins won against after being released from the UFC, they weren't cans, he beat a lot of good fighters with good records!

So yeah, keep an eye on this guy, I'm not proud of it but after he left the UFC I kinda lost track of him, and only a couple years back did I realize that he kept fighting at the highest possible level he could from his POV.

It's a shame he only fought once at Jungle Fight, right before getting signed by the UFC... that's likely the fight that got him noticed, so...

Okay, enough talk about unrelated BS, let's focus on Ares FC 7 <{JustBleed}>

Either one could have a Gamrot tier run through the UFC rankings. While not huge stars, they are probably getting paid well by KSW, so we will probably see them in the UFC in a couple of years

What gets the priority tonight? ARES or CW?

According to interview with Popov he was supposed to fight at Bellator event in May, in France. Said that opponent was big black guy (doesn’t remember name, said that he even doesn’t knows/remembers names of Russian fighters). Visa issues preventing him from competing for Bellator.

Mhmmm big black guy, I assume that was Davion Franklin since Daniel James pulled out due to the drug test fail

Vassell could be the big black guy too, or Fortune.

Are either of those booked? I don't keep up with schedules anymore.
