My big stupid hype trains thread.

1. Mineev
2. Kerimov
3. Soldic
4. Bilostenniy
5. Shara Bullet
6. Thunder Knutts
7. Taira
8. Talha
9. Turkalj
10. Khavalov
UFC seems to have 0 interest on Kerimov, which is a mistake. Soldic is probably banking in KSW and wont be making the jump any time soon (Amasov W over him has aged beautifully, I would love to see the rematch). Turklaj has visa issues...

Do you see any of them making the jump any time soon?

I think Turkalj, Knutsson and Taira will be in during the next year or so. Maybe Bilostenniy but I don't trust them with Russians. Khavalov is EFC, so maybe Khabib can get him in. I'd be pleasantly surprised if any of the others were there any time soon. I think they'll likely all just stay where they are.

All the top three flyweights are in different organizations, so it sucks. Taira is in Shooto, Makoto is in Deep and Saomoto is in Rizin
I wouldn't call Taira a top flyweight. Idk about the other two.

At HW, both Kornilov (12-0) and Maslov (9-1) won, Kornilov beat Murtazaliev by decision and Maslov stopped Eder de Souza.

Neither of them really looked very good imo though. Kornilov seems a bit hit and miss and Maslov is consistently disappointing.

Been a bit lazy with this over Christmas but I've updated the rankings. I'm not going to go back and re-do hype trains but I would have given them to Abdoul Abdoulragimov, Seika Izawa, Dakota Ditcheva, Charlie Campbell, Evan Elder and Mariusz Ksiazkiewicz if I hadn't been so lazy.

Yeah, just start afresh from now on innit! Too much effort, that!

Satoshi Souza? Incredible grappler, still interested in how he'd do against fighters who decide to sprawl and brawl against him as I think he might find that hard to deal with.
Im struggling to think of a more dangerous grappler at LW. He is like a modern Aoki but with more potential, IMO.

Yeah his grappling transitions are beautiful. I just need to see if the more mature version of him falls into the same issues Aoki sometimes has if he can't get a fight to the floor though.

He's certainly up there for danger. I think I'd still put people like Charles and Islam above him because they've done it against a much higher level of opposition though.

Yeah, he is still very unproven but he passes the eye test, for sure.

I guess I meant submission specialists, I cant think of many more submission specialists at LW. Plenty of better overall grapplers (Charles, Islam, Chandler, Dariush, Gillespie, Gamort, Primus, Goiti, etc.)

Igor Da Silva

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Flyweight
Age : 18
Promotion - Jungle Fight
Record : 5-0

I was impressed with this kid the first time I saw him, solely on him being an 18 year old beating up a journeyman grown bloke, but this time he was fighting Davi Souza who is 25 and I had down as a great prospect himself. Igor seemed stronger, won the wrestling exchanges, edged the BJJ exchanges and then showed he could do it on the feet too by folding Davi with a shot to the kidneys and then having the fight IQ to throw his finishing ground and pound to the body which I thought showed great composure for an 18 year old.

Fight timestamped

Tereza Bleda

Country - Czech Republic
Weight Class - Flyweight
Age : 19
Promotion - Oktagon
Record : 5-0

I've hype trained Bleda before, but I'm doing it again. It's mad that she's still only 19 years old and she's absolutely running through girls that have been on the contender series before. The elbows from mount to finish this fight are fucking nasty.

Matej Penaz

Country - Czech Republic
Weight Class - Middleweight
Age : 25
Promotion - Oktagon
Record : 5-0

Really nice potential in this guy. Outstanding output, just throws and throws, I think at the moment he has a tendency to over extend his combos a little bit which could get him in trouble but I think he'll figure that out. Also got stuck against the cage for extended periods, but at the same time never close to being taken down. What I love is the accumulative damage he was putting out with straight, accurate and high volume shots which is going to drown a lot of people.

Not quite UFC ready at this stage, but give him another year and he could well be.

I dont mean to sound like an asshole but isnt he a bit old to make the transition to MMA? He has a nice muay thai pedigree but having a purple belt in Australia wont get him too far.

Shit, I did sound like an asshole. Dude seems pretty wholesome and could be interesting to see how he develops. Hopefully he can mix it up nicely.
